I have a strange feeling in my chest which feels like a torn muscle, which is the most likely explanation, or damaged rib. Is this par for the course and nothing to worry about or should I consider talking to the doc about my imminent demise?

Why do you attribute this to asthma?

Because it's in the chest area and assumed that short sharp breathes might provoke a muscle strain. I can't see it being anything else and if other sufferers confirm this I'll continue m'ingtfu, if not I'll speak to the doc.

I write this in sound mind if not body as my last will and testament.
To philconsequence I leave the remnants of my tapeworm AIDs and of course the phlegm that shall be collected after my demise...

No.

+1 No
Gets very tight as if being crushed or painful like you say if having a coughing fit associated with asthma

Do you have asthma?

Sounds like a damaged rib or intercostal muscle to me.

This is exactly how it feels, being a veteran if several damaged ribs. Previous damaged was generally caused by an impact, this time it would appear to have been caused by short, sharp breathing. A damaged rib means no visit to the doc, unexplained pain means talking to the doc and possibly wasting time if it's nothing.
I was just interested in seeing if other asthma sufferers had experienced something similar and consensus says no... *puts worried face back*

Doc says torn muscle and could be from sharp intake of breath...

For me my asthma feels as though my bronchi are massively constricted, and lung capacity drops to very little. Never had any local or general chest pains from it.
