I’ve not long moved house from a place with a garage to one without. Part of the deal I made with the housebuilder company was a few extra feet of land down the side of the house to fit a big shed and was going to get an Asgard one.
So my big surprise today was buying a shed on their site today and the delivery quoted for a 5 bike shed was £200!
Just wondered if this was normal delivery price for them, has anyone else bought from them? I’m up in Scotland a mile out of Aberdeen so it’s not the most remote or the hardest place to get to.
It’s put me off buying one, are there any alternatives that are near as good?
I bought mine through Screwfix. Don't recall a delivery charge.
I've got a Trojan one I think it's called. It states 4 to 5 bikes I think, but I reckon they base it on road bikes.
I put two gnarpoon sled rigs in it with 780 bars and I struggled to fit a third in. Had to remove wheels to turn bars etc.
i have a 6 bike asgard. it is a cracking quality bit of stuff.
they are in bradford. you are a long way from bradford. hence the delivery cost.
my shed weighs about 50 stone. carriage will be hefty.
I get what you're saying, but I've never had anywhere charge more to deliver further away. Almost 20% extra on delivery seems daft 🙁
I looked more into it after posting but only saw one response they had to a trust pilot review saying delivery was free with a small uplift charge for remote areas.
Changed my postcode a couple of times on the delivery page to test it, somewhere south of London was free (about a hundred miles less travel) and the bottom of Cornwall was just under 60 quid delivered (about 50 miles further away). Seems weird as it's all motorway then dual carriageway up to here.
Emailed the to ask in the hope it's a website glitch as my postcode is a new-ish one.
Same as Ton I have the 6x shed, great big lump of a thing.Really pleased with Quality and sturdiness of the thing. My delivery was free but I’m only 20 mins down M62, have you selected for it to built on delivery? I paid for mine to be built, glad I did it was bouncing down with rain, poor sods.
Trimetals do similar ones and my delivery (Fife) a number of years ago was free.
Are you sure you’ve not selected the option for them to assemble it too? Don’t recall a big delivery fee on mine, maybe £50 or so but I’m only in Manchester. They guys that delivered it were employees of the company, not a logistics firm so I can see them charging more if they have to go further. Great bit of kit though, can’t see anyone getting through it in a hurry. Remember to get a drill or impact driver to put all the screws in though or you’ll loose the will to live and give yourself arthritis
get a drill or impact driver to put all the screws in
Agree with this, I bought myself a cordless screwdriver for the task and very glad I did.
It is also possible (thought not easy) to assemble it on your own.
I don't recall a massive delivery charge either, though this was just the North East of Englandshire.
Just checked and the 6 bike shed I got a few months ago didn't have a delivery charge (to Winchester). As mentioned above it was delivered by an Asgard employee & lorry. Think I was the 5th or 6th delivery he had done that day. I did enquire about them assembling the shed but was told they no longer offered that service.
+1 on needing a cordless screwdriver. There are a lot of screws to put in (some of which twice when you come to fit trim pieces). Also make sure the base is solid and level, the doors are tight tolerance so there cant be any twist in the shed. You do get shims to do minor adjustments.
Overall a quality piece of kit where you can see they have thought about security.
I had one delivered to Edinburgh last week and the delivery was free. They do use their own guys to deliver as it doesn't come in a box - it's just all the sections and a bag of parts.
I'd give them a call but I suspect it might be one of these computer fails where you've got an AB or IV postcode and it just farts out that you're in the middle of nowhere.
We build ours, a 29er shed for 4 bikes, last night. I built a paving slab base in about 2 hours the night before. Assembling the shed took my wife and I another 2 hours and it was actually pretty easy. The hard bit it adjusting the levels minutely to allow the door to shut - it does have to be almost completely flat, even a few mm our seems to be enough to throw it out of whack. We used a drill and it just made life so much easier.
I looked at the Trimetals ones and they just didn't look to offer anything that was the same size for anything like similar money.
