Just got an email offering the chance to be a mystery shopper. Ir seems you get £100 to spend and you then send in a review and keep the stuff you buy.

Anyone done it or is it a scam?

cheers

£100 sounds a lot for free. Do the source email and any links look like valid domains?

If you have to ask, etc.

£10/£20 would be a more normal fee for a mystery shop.

There are loads of companies paying around that level, can't see why Asda or whoever does their mystery shop stuff, would pay five or ten times the going rate for the same service.

Sounds very much like a scam

I do get a lot of similar sounding emails like that in my spam filter.

I'd imagine they'd do that sort of thing with a staff member rather than sub it out to members of the public.

Would be far more normal to use a third party company that specialises in mystery shopping assignments.

Before littleG was born we used to do them all the time for quite a few different companies. Mainly pubs and restaurants, but plenty of shops too.
Also used to do loads of McDonald's. (£10 fee + free meal)

The norm is roughly £20 fee for a shop, or bill paid up to £30 if it's a restaurant assignment.

Mate of mine's a Mystery Shopper for Thwaites. His free shopping budget is a couple of pints.

Look at it this way; what do ASDA have to gain by giving you £100 over giving you a tenner? Are you likely to have a different shopping experience?

Mrs ws has done loads. Local chippy one was brilliant. Currently part of tescos crew. She usually gets vouchers sent to buy the stuff in question. Between 10 and 20 quids worth tops.
