1. How was your year in general?
2. What are your goals/what are you hoping to do in 2020?
1. My 2019 began with me in a neck brace and, with a brief and altogether-too-early return to work in March, I spent the year until September recuperating from my accident. I have flitted between being frustrated with all the fitness I lost to being amazed at the fact that, after all I went through, I am not only still alive, I am pretty much fully functional again. In this respect, the year has been very good to me, although it is drawing to a close with my still sitting at 8 kgs too heavy.
2. By early 2020, I want to be back to "racing weight", and able to get more involved in my club and appropriate races. I also plan on leaving my current job behind completely, and turn to full-time writing, while taking shifts at somewhere like the LBS or a bookshop to make up any lull in funds.
Over to you.
2019 was great.
Good a new eBike and steady work - high pay, 3 days a week from home. Fitness good and taken up weightlifting seriously.
2020 goals are to buy a campervan and go about in that riding my bike
1) I could moan about not enough riding time and a bit too little time afloat as a consequence of a lot of work and some family issues but that would be churlish given what some have been through on here these last 12 months.
2) 2020 New car (maybe a van like one), I'm just fed up of the random and frequent faults of the current one - a 2-3 monthly cycle of "unexpected" bills of £300 to £500 between services.
For biking I want to do more with my boys and more with my regular weeknight group. Maybe a bivi or two and some dawn rides.
Also on the agenda:
A big two week whole family camping trip with kayaks and/or bikes maybe Wales, peaks, lakes or scotland
Lots of watersports and feeding my eldest son's massive enthusiasm (and fledgling talent) for dinghy racing
Some hiking
Gym time and swimming (too little this year due to work)
Some career stuff too.
2019. I woke up every morning.
2020. Hope it continues.
My goal was to retire. Tick.
Do more cycling. Tick.
Get fitter. Tick.
Still a "modest" performer so need to keep it going in 2020.
Wot EGF said. Happy to wake up every day (generally!) and revel in my mediocrity 🙂
If I continue to be merely mediocre in 2020 I'll be doing better than most.
Cheers! 😁
2019 - was a good year in general. Got in 3 holidays to Gran Canaria, Majorca, and Benidorm.
I joined a new area/team of work that has proved very interesting and encouraged further learning and development.
Once again met some fantastic people - and like every bunch of roses they have included the odd prick.
Have ridden just under half the distance I typically do in a year because of time etc, but go to a local boxing gym twice a week which is keeping the weight off.
2020 - I intend to cut my hours to part-time or go agency to get the work/life balance back.
