my neighbour to do some painting on. He uses acrylic paints most of the time but oil paints now and again.
Hes 87 had a big stroke 18 months ago and his speech is still quite bad so he can’t explain what type he needs.
tia
not paper, but I used to use "pound shop" cheapo pictures (crap canvas really but cheap) and give them a coat of white emulsion.
That’s worth a shout, shall have a look for him as I’m painting the bedroom at the moment and can soon slap some emulsion on for him.
Just spoke to my wife, the artist in the household.
Given you mention acrylic and oil she guesses he’s looking for the woven texture of a canvas, and you can buy paper pads with this texture. She gets all her stuff from Jackson’s and swears by it https://www.jacksonsart.com/search/?q=canvas+acrylic+paper
@goldfish thanks that’s just the job, I’ll get him some ordered.
This stuff is fine for general painting with either oil or acrylic. I only buy 'proper' canvas for commissions.

Where are you based. I have a few bigger canvas that aren't great quality as they were originally cheap prints but I use them when trying new techniques or practice sketches that I will paint over. I can drop them round if you are local(ish).
@WCA thanks for the offer but I’m up in Yorkshire. I shall get him some ordered later today. Thanks everyone for the input.
Repurposed charity shop canvas.
B&M (other B&M type stores are available) off the peg canvases.
Espicailly for oil.. hardboard.
Offcut mountboard works as well.
Anything really,. But then again I'm a bit Giacometti on the quiet .
The Works do reasonably priced canvas too.
