You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi All - if any of you are wondering what to do on a lovely Sunday to see some art, please consider popping in to see my two galleries : https://hampshireopenstudios.org.uk/artists/southampton/item/nick-clark
It was quiet yesterday so I would love to see some friendly faces and chat art/bikes/twaddle. Who knows, you might even see something that gives you an idea for your next art acquisition
Hope to see you - either today or at any point during the week ahead
Art lovers of the North, down south on holiday?
Okay - what about midlanders or those up from the West Country?
There has to be someone out there, I have only had 6 visitors and 1 sales since Saturday.
I get the feeling that the Hampshire Open Studio promotions and marketing consists or selling space in their pamphlet to the artists and then giving 100 pamphlets to each artist. Not sure I will bother with this again.
🙁
Hi from the South West ... I had a tumbleweed post like this years ago.
Some of the galleries are just rip of merchants.
A real artists collective would be good. Sell online and local.
Sort of Open Source Artists.
Good luck with exhibition, hope you sell some work.
RT.
Thanks - to be fair, most the locals I know have either already bought my work or aren't going to. Just a bit surprise by the lack of footfall given this is promoted as the 'big' Hampshire art event. Apparently many of the other exhibitors are finding the same and I have at least sold enough to cover my costs. Just getting bored as I have set up the garage so I can't really do much fettling while I wait.
One painting almost finished, another well under way and a Giraffe in progress.

I can't claim to be an art lover but as it happens I will be driving from Croydon to Lulworth Cove next Monday. I thought visiting your art gallery wouldn't be massively out of my way and would represent a welcome break. Although Google maps claims that it would add over an hour to my journey, which I find very surprising.
I would be particularly interested in seeing your finished giraffe 😬
You will be driving down the M3 and along the M27 from Croydon the Lulworth. Detour 1 junction (1/2 mile) down the M271, take the first exit, follow the road basically straight over the next three round abouts, right at the lights and we are the 3rd road on the right. About 5-10 minutes from the M27 so I guess Google Maps is including the time you spend admiring the art. Basically follow the signs to the Southampton General Hospital. When you get there ask any of the staff and they will tell you where I live 🙂
Drop me a text or something when you go past Winchester, just to give me time to get home if I have popped to the shops or something.

That must be it! I need to be in Lulworth Cove by 4pm so if I get my act together and leave in plenty of time I will look forward to a halfway break to admire the works of art at the WCA gallery 😎
We have a local arts festival, probably 50+ artists all in one village. They are all within walking distance and I only have stamina for about five in one go.
Looking at that website there are loads of them and they are all over the place. Seems like it needs more focus really to have any hope of good footfall.
robola - I agree which is why I made the poster below. The problem is my location. I am about 2 miles from the next artist and there are a cluster of artist all close together there. People are driving or walking to the fidt one, walking around the other four and calling it a day rather than getting in the car and driving 2 miles up the road to see Billy no-mates up by the hospital.

Set up a pop-up gallery in the Hospital. Sounds like it's home from home, so you can work while they work on you.
a pop-up gallery in the Hospital - I asked but am not allowed.
I tend to sell up in Winchester when it is sunny at the weekend.

Fair play for asking though!
