Sorry for the delay and the slightly shorter clip this week but real life got a bit shit and slowed stuff down.

Here is a compilation that brings any slackers almost up to date :

I make these to remind myself that I am actually making progress rather than justy endlessly sanding and breaking things.

BLimey, I thought I was indecisive. that car went through more changes in that one clip than I could keep track of.

Here are just some I managed to screen grab.

PS I hope to get the next episode out at after the weekend if I can just finish the bumper bits and the airdam dryingh in the kitchen at the moment

Here is the latest release as I get the design buck ready to paint.

Huge progress but stay to the end to improve my viewer duration, I mean to see the crazy dilema I now face!!!!

No, and I think it is much more like a Mk1 Cavalier Coupe than a bloody Chevette!

I like the first red one, not so keen on the yellow one as the front wings don't flow and the back end looks like a melted AM Vantage from the 70's and the white one looks a bit too bulky.

In other news, I have just come back from the garage having put the (hopefully) last coat of filler on the first part I am going to make a mold from. A bit of sanding to take it down to 1000 grit and then I am going to try gelcoat and a mold without using a primer, just lots of mold release.

This is the small part under the front of the bonnet that rests on the bumper. If it all goes horribly wrong, I have only ruined the smallest panel. If it works then I don't need to learn how to spray primer. With luck and good weather, there will be another episode out within a week.

I managed to get the mould polished up nicely last night so the wait for the next episode shouldn't be so long. First 'production' carbon piece coming soon!

I start working on the Left Wing but it doesn't go to plan.

Do not start working 14 hours into a mentally strenuous day after a week of much work and little sleep.

The statement "extreme tiredness is like being drunk" is largely accurate, as research shows that severe sleep deprivation can significantly impair cognitive function in a similar way to alcohol intoxication, affecting reaction time, concentration, and decision-making abilities, making it dangerous to drive or perform complex tasks when extremely tired; essentially, being very sleep deprived can have a similar effect on your brain as being drunk

In this episode you see me succeed!

Well I get a split mould created which I am pretty cuffed with.

And in this episode I am back to failure.

I discover that the process I use for the mould is fundamentally incompatible with the method I was planning to actually use the mould.

This interesting discover means I have to change my approach to making all future parts. Thank goodness I haven't already created my 2nd mould. Oh, hang on a minute, I have. Bugger!

Not a failure at all WCA, you’re just learning from your (occasional) mistakes. Will it be on the road this summer?

On the road this summer? Hopefully. Finished this summer, unlikely - wheel arches, under bonnet refinements, paint/colour for the whole car, engine upgrade  etc

Lack of time and money, compounded by a lack of knowledge

And the latest great episode has dropped -

Loads of time spent fitting, adjusting, marking, removing, adjusting, fitting, adjusting, marking, removing, adjusting, fitting, adjusting, marking, removing, adjusting, fitting, adjusting, marking, removing, adjusting, fitting, adjusting, marking, removing, adjusting, fitting, adjusting, marking, removing, adjusting, fitting, adjusting, marking, removing, adjusting...

but I kept most of that out of the episode just to make it bearable

I have a few days leave next week so hopefully will get a bit more done. I have the head light mould well underway already so perhaps the bonnet as well next week?

Headlight recesses complete. It took bloody ages as I waited for the various patches to dry when bonding them into the inside of the front wings. Don't worry, I skipped over most of the pain.

The bad news is that my roller garage door broke at the weekend and the company want £200 for 4 plastic clips to fix it so it is difficult to view the car from the front. The good news is that I made good progress on the bonnet mould while I was waiting so the next episode might drop quite soon.

Ever wanted to make a mould for a carbon fibre or glass fibre part?

No, me neither really but if you want to watch it anyway, here is the end to end process for making the biggest mould I have attempted so far.

Enjoy the latest. It is quite short because most of my time was spent putting connectors together, something not working, taking them apart just to discover they were fine and it was a different fault. Also, DO NOT ask the Porsche forums for the wiring diagrams for a 997 headlight. I got a dozen replies and problem 20 definitive, but contradicting, answers. The best answer I got, with only 3 out of 26 wires misidentified was actually from Grok AI!

For those who care, or are vaguely interested, I have spent 6 hours today trying to get a successful vacuum seal for a rein infusion on the bonnet. This will probably be about 30 seconds on the video.

No real point to this post other than sharing my frustration. I am sure I will resolve this all tomorrow, or at least some tomorrow. I am about £400 into this bonnet piece so cannot afford for it to fail. Please buy my art to help fund this stupidity.

Nothing too exciting. I just realised I hadn't done a 30 minute compilation episode since before Christmas so am catching up with those.

I hope to get fresh material out after this weekend

Compilation 6

Compilation 7

Compilation 8

And Compilation 9

This takes us up to Episode 40 in the Compilation series.

Episode 41 is already available covering the lights and wiring fun with those.

Episode 42 should complete this weekend, if I get the weather, and shows the front airdam becoming carbon

Episode 43 will follow soon and shows the making of the bonnet - an expensive (had to wait to sell more paintings, hence the delay) and scary process

Yeah, I had to wait to sell a painting. Sold one for £600 and bought £700 of carbon fibre the same day. Using man-maths that is free carbon fibre. I have been very busy doing, rather than filming and editing since then. The next 2 episodes are crackers with real progress made.

Sneak preview pic, just for you.

Anyway, lunch break over so back to the garage for me.

After an early start and a couple of hours work we have some fresh content for a Sunday morning!!!

Because I was doing the bonnet and this at the same time you get some out of sequence images of the progress. Hopefully the bonnet video will be out in a week or so. I just need to work out how to bolt it to the car and keep it closed.

Yep,  Mostly fixings to bolt it all together now. The bonnet hinges are going to be a challenge as they need to be exactly parallel with each other and square on the bonnet so they open properly. Unfortunately the isn't a flat or square point on the bonnet to start measuring from. I knew I should have styled it like a Tesla Cybertruck...

This is possibly the episode before I go for an MOT and get this car on the road again!!

The delay is partly because of life and partly because of an 'adverse reaction' which held me up for a month while the antibiotics, steroids, antihistamine, ascorbic acid and 2 different sets of eye drops did there thing. Details at the end of this video.

It is my firm belief that in the next episode you will see this fly through its MOT and I can enjoy driving it while finishing off the rest of it.

Sneak Preview - I have decided to paint the front wings body colour so am giving them a body filler skim and much bloody sanding. Not sure whether to complete this before or after the MOT. I was filling and sanding 7:30am - 9am and again 7pm - 9pm and am sincerely sick of it now but the photo shows some progress..
