This is an epic art project emulating an amazing bronze casting and involving me using many new tools for the first it - a vacuum cleaner to name just one.

Excellent. My son is in the second year of his degree in fine art and made something similarly boulder shaped out of chicken wire and expanding foam last year. It’s just taking up space now. I think I prefer your approach!

I did think about the expanding foam but is is messy and a pain to use. I used the easier / lazier way. I plan to dump the result in the garden and call it an art installation / bird bath.

Photos of your son's work?

Might give me ideas

It was more about the process than the outcome!
He tried shaping it with rasps and files afterwards. I think he gave up as a bad job.
His work is quite abstract mainly…

Docrobster - I think he needs to move it on beyond deploying the medium to add his artistic input

Everyone's a critic 🙂

Yeah I agree WCA. Not one of his best works. What can I say, it’s a formative process. He’s working out what he wants to do. Did some hot glass work the other week. Reading Plato’s Republic this week. Bought a tufting gun last year to make textile pictures. Hopefully it will lead to something.
His insta is here. If you look carefully you will see my old dialled PA in the background on one of his shots in the studio

It might be a couple of weeks due to other commitments but when you see this thread pop back up in a couple of weeks, that will probably be the new vid
