If so then here is Part 1 :

Part 2 will follow as soon as I have dealt with the expected deluge of praise and questions about part 1

Well following that deluge of praise and questions, here is part 2.

Brace yourselves as WCA uses an angle grinder :

There might be a short delay for part 3 as those were filmed at the weekend and I actually have to work at the moment.

I am sure you will live with the disappointment

Can you clarify?

Is it possible to uncarve wood? It wasn't something you covered.

🙂

Sorry, looks good.

Cool. Love a bit of angle grinding.

I've got an arbortech type attachment for mine. It's vicious.

Cheers for my Octopus referral WCA. just as an aside, I was recommended to switch from the standard tariff they put you on (whilst waiting for Octopus Go/Agile), to Octopus Tracker Tariff. just send them an email as soon as you start, asking to be switched (NB for Yorkshire: Tracker = 11.28ppkwh, 18.96ppd the original tariff they put me on was = 14.50ppkwh, 21.26ppd, so worth doing).

I shit you not, every time you went for a new power tool I half expected to see a bandage on another finger, or a leg cast.

Will watch with interest though.

You really don't want to watch 2-3 hours of me faffing about while carving. I got bored watching the video while I was editing it. I am amazed that 159 of you have watched the first one and stunned that 60 went on to watch the second part. I guess I had better video the rest of the work when I get a chance to do some more

To the 99 people who didn't watch part 2 I would urge you to stick with it. It is a slow burner but by the end of the second episode things had really started to develop.

I am drawn to follow the series... It's like _knowing_ that there will be an accident, yet being unable to look away.

Time lapse would work for it... GoPro in the roof or something.

Definitely watch 2 - fashion advice, masks and cameos

More action than you could shake a stick at

When does pt 3 premier?

Just checked - 215 views for Part 1!!!!!

Does this mean it has gone viral?

Am I a YouTube sensation?

Where will I store all the money?

How bored can I get before I kill myself?

Watched both parts in high anticipation when I saw flip-flops and an angle grinder were involved. Came away disappointed, though the sea horse looks great!!

One question though - if that’s really a railway sleeper what happened to all the creosote?

It is a garden centre fake sleeper that I had left over after doing some garden landscaping. Not sure what the wood is but did you see the split up the side? Not sure how long the sculpture will stay whole but we will see.

First rule of wood carving - YOU CAN'T UN-CARVE WOOD

Yeah, I may have noticed that I repeat that phrase occasionally.

Promise to try harder 🙂

Brilliant, nearly there. Particularly enjoyed speedy-cam and "deep relief".

Everyone's a critic, but are you going to do anything more with the nose?

I wasn't but now you have mentioned it I might. Off to google what a sea horse actually looks like. Everything so far has been from memory rather than actually looking at a picture. That might have been a good idea nearer the beginning of this process.

EDIT
I have looked and most pictures are side profile. This one isn't but he is not exactly happy looking : https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-portrait-of-a-maned-seahorse-or-long-snouted-seahorse-hippocampus-113822270.html

Surprisingly hard to find a front-on photo of a seahorse! (And yes, I am that bored 🙂 )

Here's a couple:

A disappointing 44 views may mean "Part 4 - Watching Paint Dry" never happens. It will have to wait until the wood stain is delivered regardless..

Thanks to my 44 har core fans who endured the 3 so far

Ive started now so I'll have to see it to the end. Actually enjoying it. It's looking good.

Is it just me that cringes seeing flip flops when using power tools?

It appears I _am_ bored enough. Fair play for doing this, I think it's great. Please make #4...... Or are you going to make it like Binky and we have to wait another 6 weeks?

I started filming part 4 and discovered a distinct lack of wood paint/stain. The filming will continue when the new stuff arrives.

I can give a sneak reveal of the working title : Carving a Sea Horse - Part 4 Watching Paint Dry

DO you think that summons the right level of expected excitement?
