...and STW have had to get shrews in to provide cover?

Site is running, but lacking oomph! 🙂

FFS that ^^ took forever to load. And to make matters worse it lied and said it only took 2 seconds!

I've found recently that the page wil hang, or even using the navigation button on the mouse that the page hangs and wont go back, sometimes even it wont load at all and i get a 502 error.

What does work is to open a topic in a new tab, or reload it a couple of times which appears to sped up the process.

About to hit post, so I'll count, then add an edit saying how long it took, though I suspect given theres this thread, someone will have by now oiled the hamster wheel.
Edit: 4 seconds to load, so that hamster wheel has been oiled with Teflon infused oil.

iPad Pro using safari and it takes anywhere from 10seconds to 30 seconds to load a page of 4 or 5 white rectangles that gradually fill with forum posts, headers etc, get a fair number of time out requests and 502 errors as well, similar experience on 2020 iMac using safari.

edit : 24 seconds waiting for above post to show

Maybe it's at TJ's being waxed?

Don't even try posting a classifieds ad if you're me. 24 hours I've been trying!

Immaculate Xbox series s & controller - £130 collection from Leeds and I'll post the boosted fiver to STW 😀

I'm currently having to log in every time I come to the site, on both my phone and tablet. Both android.

Never really had this problem before.

Glad I subscribe, the ads are a bit annoying.

Nope, back to multiple topics ending up with a 502 timed out error, and its making the forum pretty much unusable due to frustration.

Even worse, I can't get any actual articles to open / load - mostly just dead, with an occasional 'that must have been moved' fault message

Sorry.

Hi folks, we have a sick hamster and the remaining hamster is doing their best to find the source of the problems you’re having. Thanks for bearing with us.

@robertajobb I’ve not found any dead links, so if you discover some more please can you email them to me so I can look into it? Editorial is usually pretty good for redirecting rather than deleting. Hannah@singletrackworld.com

It might be a browser issue, I normally use Firefox, but recently it’s been running so slow it times out and gives me a 504 error when I submit a post. Now using Brave and it’s running just fine.

Where did my post on the Matterhorn go? Did a successful post with several photos and it had 2 replies and has now disappeared.

If anybody at STW towers feels like putting 50p in the meter so that the messaging function works again, I would be very grateful… Even have the cleared funds sat in my paypal account to send over if you’re struggling for a whip round! 🤔

Apologies for the passive aggressive rant, but in 20yrs on this forum, without fail every “improvement” I have witnessed to this site has (to the user at least) appeared like regression not progression… Many friends I have known for a decade or more from this very forum have given up with it cos it’s just so slow and useless these days I am sorry to say… I don’t use it much any more but when I do it frustrates the hell out of me and I wonder why I bother any more!

Just to say that after my whine up there ^ about being unable to post an ad, I was contacted by a very polite STW person within an hour and the problem was escalated to tech and solved by morning - a subsequent glitch was then also fixed shortly afterwards by an equally polite tech person.

Nice bunch behind the scenes. Probably worth us all remembering that.

"Yeah, but there's a magazine".

FFS! What's the point of a begging post from Charlie when paying subscribers are already having such a poor experience. Twice this morning I've tried to read what @stwhannah has to say about women in cycling and twice the site has timed out. If I was her I'd be pissed at trying to produce some readable content knowing that there are such barriers between her and the readership. Yes, I'm sure the tech guys are doing all they can, but this has gone on for days. And you think folk should pay more for this experience?

And that was followed up by one of these...

The site is almost unusable today, off the back of being pretty shonky all week. Constant crashes, 502 errors, 'closed for maintenance' signs, 'this link is broken' messages.  We are asked to have some patience and we do, but it is finite 😞

So, now I'm having to save the contents of any post I make because there's no guarantee it'll not simply fail on the first attempt.

Oddly I've found the forum much less problematic today than it has been for the last several days.

I'm guessing this is more to do with my frazzledness today meaning I'm not actually up to remembering if I posted or not.

Topic sorting by time of last post now borked?

And I'm constantly being logged out, which is ironic as I recently purchased membership but previously remained logged in as a freeloader 🤷‍♂️
