Looking at a family city break at Easter. Best deal seems to be Bristol - Dublin - New York with Aer Lingus. Anyone flown with them recently?
Are Lingus to New York?
I don't know Aer they?
(Sorry 🙂 )

Not the worst possible slip in this case, though - the Freudians could have a field day here.........
I have no idea what you taking about.

US immigration is airside in Dublin, which has got to be nicer than going through all that malarkey after a long flight at the other end.
Flew Dublin-Boston last August and found it to be fine, I mean grand.
I think next time I travel to the US with work I'll do that bristol-dublin hop. its got to be worth it to not have to stand in a US immigration hall for a couple of hours.
plus it'll save me driving all the way to heathrow/gatwick from devon.
Do they import the humourless US immigration officers or is it locals?
We've flown with them from Cardiff to Chicago via Dublin. Was pretty painless. It was much cheaper than the direct options, and since Dublin is actually on the way to America it worked out well. Especially for the kids, since Cardiff airport is tiny so easy to negotiate, and the long haul flight was that bit shorter. Plus the faffing about checking in here and there actually goes quickly because you're busy, rather than sitting on a plane an extra hour.
Last year did the same but to Chicago, all worked fine. American immigration was in Dublin which was busy, made the other end weird, collect bag and "Oh I am in America"

All US immigration officers, but they seem ok. There's still the queuing up and the slightly regimental man in uniform thing that our friends across the Atlantic seem to love. We had a pleasant chat about where we were going on holiday, definitely not a grilling and were on our way through to the departure lounge.
Arrivals are great because you're in the domestic part of the airport.
Actually, I would not recommend it at all. Do not book Aer Lingus to America via Dublin.
At least not until I've booked, because it will push up prices.
