Are any STWers in the USA or have family in the USA?

I want to buy something from Craigslist and the seller is a bit cagey about selling internationally.

I just need someone to transfer some cash $150cad and then post it onto me.

It's a small item, a coffee tamper (peak STW).  Can anyone help?

Also, if there's any STWers in Northern California/Oregon region, can I come and sleep on your floor for 6 months? Or put up a tent in your yard?

Thanks

An eighty quid coffee tamper no less, that's definitely peak STW 🙂

Seems like quite a big favour you're asking of a complete stranger ?

What's so special about it that it costs so much and you need to get it from this particular seller?

It has bi-directional action with a gold-plated tamp surface so the coffee tastes so much better.

That's a fair point - I meant North America

It's an out of production Chris King Coffee tamper in an unusual size.

Is it?  If someone were to ask this of me, I'd not consider it a big thing.

I want to buy something from Craigslist

If you get no joy there, you could try TamperBay

Fyi, Shipping won't be cheap.

Why not PayPal gift it to remove his risk postage process is the same as domestic.

His pinkbike profile is well enough established (13yr) that there's an acceptable level of trust.

I've been posting sub $100 parts out with honesty "payment on receipt" recently to well established pinkbikers. Not been bitten yet.

I'm in squamish, but there's a lot of moving parts to this. Forex, cash, guy sells it to someone else in the mean time, forex back, exchange rate difference so you get less back than you sent, gets lost in the mail, etc etc.

Avoiding a 3rd party is best, there's the better part of a half a day of work doing this.

Best to double check the size, you don't want to take the rap for a tiny tamper.

He doesn't do Paypal.  I'm happy to take the risk with a bank transfer and have a global money account so the transfer would be in CAD.  Postage is ~$50CAD.

OP

Good luck and thanks for a birthday present idea for a friend.

I am lucky that I have the materials and headset* parts to make a tamper like that.

* not Chris King

Depends on your commitment.  I'm sure you'd be fine, you seem experienced.
