Was stuck in a traffic jam yesterday and the driver of the car in front decided to turn round and try another way. His carefully spaced number plate:

P E 5 1 M S T

Just after he'd gone, the traffic started moving again as well 😆

P E 5 1 M S T

Is that suppose to spell something funny ? ......I can't see it.

Mind you, I often don't get the 'ha-ha so hilariously funny' pun headlines in the red tops.

I thought offensive ones weren't allowed?

I did see W0NGA on a black BMW M3 a few years ago and thought briefly about whether this was ironic but as it was in Essex I doubted it.

They are screened, but that PEN 15 slipped through the net. Last I heard it was owned by Steve Parrish, ex bike and truck racer.

The 2011 car reg's are out, a famous jockey bought FA11 OFF, David Jason obviously bought DE11 BOY and there are rumours that Jordan bought ME11 ONS but dont worry there's still chance for you to get BE11 END.

There's a boxer in Sheffield with F1 STS which works quite well but my favourite is on a crappy old Volvo and it's R8 GUD (needs to be pronounced in a broad Sheffield accent)

WRT "pimp" there ^^ there's one down the road from me that's a variant on "weed," something like W3 EED. I'll see if I can get a pic without getting an ass-cap popped.

There's one of those Megane 225 Renaultsport things that goes past every so often with the number plate VAA VAA. There's a few 4's in there somewhere.

A mate of mine used to run a bookie's and drove an old Lotus Esprit (like the Bond one) and his number plate spelt BIG ODDS.

Seems there's a few in Sheffield!

Anyone seen the big black Merc G-wagon type think with the tinted windows and the plate 8MM?

I always laugh, it looks like a wannabe gangster rapper who is 1 short of a 9MM.

The Ferrari one he lists can't be, either. It could be FA57 EST perhaps.

I'm struggling to see how H0T 5EX can be possible. HOT 53X maybe?

Wow! Amazed that someone would buy a plate with the name of the from an early 80's sitcom, revolutionary as it was.

My missus (Fiona Oxley) has F10 XLY on her car. Total bargain basement price as well, which was a bonus. The flipside is some arse who bought OXL 3Y for £2500 in 2004 and now wants me to give him £30,000 for it. Obviously I've told him where to get off.

Private plates are a bit like humour then? If you've got to explain it, it doesn't work.

Come again?

I saw an X5 with a buggered-about-with "W1GEL" on it, presumably owned by some trumpet called Nigel. I don't think if I had to work with him I'd be able to stop myself calling him Wigel to his face. I enjoy thinking that someone somewhere is doing that until he finally cracks and then has a nervous breakdown. It gives me a warm glow inside.

There's a newish expensive Porsche 911 round our way with the illegal plate YE5 1 CAN on it. I guess the question was 'can you turn that classy expensive car into an oik-mobile spending under £20?'
