after months of keeping my work iphone and my personal iphone private, I was pushed by the lovely company that goes by the name of 'Apple' to sign in with my apple username (so I could download a bloody fuel card app) I also decided to set up iCloud just in case I was to break/loose my work phone.

I currently don't use my work iphone for anything personal.

since doing so, last night i've now npoticed a few things im not happy with,

firstly, somehow, facebook (whilst being viewed on my personal phone) now reccomends all my work contacts to be friends, none of which really have any mutual friends with myself, im assuming it must have got this info from the syncing and the apple passoword, the last thing I want is my work number being associated with my facebook account.

I've also now noticed that my work phone and my personal phones phone books have now merged,

i've fiddled with it for hours, and un-synced the work phone. and stopped icloud, but the contacts are still in both phonebooks and facebook keeps reccomending me to be friends with Ben the bloody builder, and Pete the plumber.

anyone know how I can put it all back?

cheers

Restore from backup both phones

Facebook - you must have allowed it to see your contacts, now as your contacts are merged its recommending new friends.

There is a certain level of Facebook (and other social media) integration built into iOS now even if you don't download their App. To turn it off, just go into Settings > Facebook and uncheck "Calendars" and "Contacts" (or just delete the account from your phone).

Now the phone books are merged on each phone you'll probably have to manually delete the numbers on each one that you don't want.

The best solution is probably just to have two iCloud accounts. Like you say if you break/lose your phone you'd be stuffed without a backup.

You'll need TWO individual iCloud accounts or it will keep happening.
iCloud backup stores your contacts, etc unless you untick that option.
However with only one account it will merge them and back them up together.
Firts sign out, delete, etc and then sign in on work one with a new - work related iCloud acount name.
Then start again.

This, but be careful. You'll need to know when both phones were backed up and at what date/time. The just restore to that point.

It's a proper pain TBH.

Don't get me started on deleting Photos off an iPhone (due to no storage left) to have them miraculously disappear in iCloud too..
Then have all the hassle of restoring and Apple Support etc.etc. (but to be fair to them they were ace)
