I’ve got to pay for something later that will be £300
For the life of me I can’t remember my card PIN numbers as I just don’t use them anymore
Is there a limit you can spend on Apple Pay ?
Ta
I use my Apple Watch for all payments, I don't even carry my card any more. Never hit any limit, and assume there isn't one.
No limit set by Apple, but the retailers may set one.
£300 should be OK.
I tried to pay £2.2k for a car for my daughter as I'd left my wallet at home. That got knocked back by my bank!! 🙂
Pretty sure there is no upper limit on Apple Pay but the retailer can set at any level they want. Really large transactions might get bumped by the bank on a card as well and need secondary auth.
Thanks everyone
A bike shop said they accept up to 10k with Google Pay with your phone and contactless!
Yeah, I’ve bought bikes lwith Apple Pay. Reason for the no (or very high) limit is that you have to put a pin into/have your face accepted by the phone for it to work.
The protocol doesn’t have a limit, but sometimes your bank can reject transactions. I had several repeat purchases on a pub app rejected, but a secondary auth via text message was enough to get things going again
I paid over £4k on mine for my daughters car.
Lloyds have a limit on Apple Pay, I tried to buy an iPad (450 quid) and it was blocked by lloyds, and my card was blocked for a day…
Bought a van for £28k via Apple Pay.
(Neither me or the garage were convinced it would work)

Apple Pay just links to your bank card so it depends on your bank and also on the card. I’ve found a huge difference between purchases on my visa debit and credit cards regardless of whether it is a card or Apple.
My bank don’t seem to care what I spend on my debit card as long as the money is in my account. Record was something like £20k for a car. Didn’t give them any warning, just put my card in the machine, put in the 4-digit pin and they were quite happy to take the money out of my account.
Using the credit card on the other hand I regularly get purchases of a few hundred blocked. Then get that annoying phone call where they try to pretend that it’s all for your benefit, which is crap as they clearly don’t care about protecting my money (visa debit) just their own (visa credit).

My local Morrisons has £100 limit for fuel, which is mildly annoying as it costs nearly £130 to fill my van up at the moment.
You may be able to view your card PIN number using your banking/credit card app.

The bank may but the card part is irrelevant as there is no limit unlike the £100 with cards and contactless.

Had that in France and only found out when French petrol stations didn't take Apple Pay! Luckily the wife had a car and knew the PIN number! I'd brought my cards specifically for petrol station but hadn't a clue what the PINs were....

Yes, my point was that the bank (or at least my bank) treats debit and credit cards very differently when it comes to blocking payments. One is my money and they couldn’t care less. The other is theirs and despite offering to raise my credit limit by thousands every year, they are very quick to block any attempts to actually spend it.
