i am in a situation here, after ignoring the advise of not getting the iphone5c 8gb because the muppet in me thought i will just back it up in Gdrive or dropbox, just now I realized the internet here in the hotel is 10 years behind the speed i have at home. Day 1 of my holiday and I have 200 pics to back up to clear memory space for tomorrow in Disneyland. My kid brought her macbook but she won't let me synced it as it will clear and delete her iTunes photos and music back ups. ( and i don't know how to really use iTunes anyways, I'm android user for ages)
is there anyway I can save to her macbook without using iTunes? bluetooth perhaps like androids?... thanks
create another user account on the macbook. login to that, then use itunes to sync your phone to that account. the original account will be untouched.
When I plug it into my PC it'll show up as a drive I can copy photos from. I'd imagine it'll do the same on my Mac but I've never tried.

That's probably the best idea.
Have you tried airdrop? I know it doesn't work with older Macs but might with a newer one. Or get a 4G capable temporary sim, whack that in and upload via 4G?
Delete some other data, and/or delete some apps. They can all be re loaded again as and when you need them.
Cheers all for the reply, airdrop doesn't seem to be working. Deleting app not sustainable for the next couple of days as I only have 2gb extra space to play .i don't even have any music on the phone... Still sorting out how this itunes works... Why can't it just be drag n drop like Windows 🙁
Text the pics to someone?
Check to see if you have 2 copies of every photo. If you have HD photos turned on and don't switch off duplicates the phone keeps 2 of everything. Also I doubt every one of the 200 photos are "keepers"

This.
When you connect the phone to the Mac, in iTunes, select 'manually manage music and videos', that way it can't mess up anything, and in any case, the Mac shouldn't copy anything back from the phone, music-wise, Apple had to obey the music industry regarding digital media and prevented the copying of music back from iPods, except for anything actually purchased on the phone, but it should give you a message about that.
Oh by the way, photos are downloaded from the iPhone to iPhoto not iTunes.
I would:
- plug the phone into the MacBook
- cancel any sort of iTunes sync that tries to happen and close it
- open up 'Image Capture' (use Spotlight if you can't find it, should be there by default)
- copy all photos to a folder of your choice
- delete photos from phone once you've checked the copy
- reward success with beer!
Or just start iPhoto on the Mac - it'll see the iPhone as a camera.
Download photos. I think it even offers to delete them for you - otherwise delete from the phone yourself to make space.
(Or Image Capture as above - but either will work)
I personally prefer Image Capture because it doesn't hide the original files away in the depths of the iPhoto Library.
Either should indeed have the short term desired effect though.
Rather than risk messing anything up why don't you buy a cheap digital camera and memory card? If you're at Disney in Florida there are loads of discount shops on International Drive or at the many outlet malls.

This. Of course, you'll still only have the one copy on the mac then, so best hope that doesn't get lost or stolen.
Or find a McDonalds and borrow their wi-fi.
