In the new MacOS there is the possibility to generate 2FA codes in the Passwords preference pane. But if you do that, doesn't that just mean that someone who nicks your laptop can now log in to your 2FA-protected accounts?

I'm nissing something, but what is it? 🙁

Use keychain to save and generate passwords, they can only access that with your unlock code, facial recognition or fingerprint. I have absolutely no idea what any of my passwords are as they’re all generated.

I only let the browser remember passwords for things I don't really care about - any bank account etc has the password written on a piece of paper and kept in a safe bolted to the wall...

If you nick my laptop you can have my STW account etc but that's about it....

Are we not password protecting our laptops now?! A secure Mac has long been essential because a lot of sites do 2FA via text message which probably come through on it. Obviously if you know it's been nicked you can remotely lock or even wipe it.

The 2FA will need touchid or your password to unlock, so it's as secure as the 2FA app on your phone.

not having your password on a post-it note stuck to side of the screen?

I used to work somewhere we had to change passwords every month, couldn't reuse passwords for 24months, complexity rules etc. as a result, i reckon at 80% of desks in about 5 mins I'd be able find a bit of paper hidden with passwords written down .
