I've never had any issues before but today none of my apple devices will connect to either my Yamaha AV Amp or my Apple TV.
Not dependent on apple - Spotify, Apple Music, BBCSounds all having the same issue. iPad, computer and phone all not working.
No changes to my network.
How are your AV amp and Apple TV connected to your network? Have you restarted the lot and checked any cables?
both amp and Apple TV are on cabled connections rather than wifi, as is the computer. Tried rebooting router and all devices.
Today everything seems to be showing up in all apps on all devices. but the last few days it's been random with the av amp sometimes showing up in one app but not another on the same device, and then nowhere. Nothing has changed in about 5 years and it's never given any issues before. What I found strangest is that the apple tVs were showing up (and I could stream music from the iMac harddrive onto the appletv) but it would fail to connect using the Spotify connect functionality
Intermittent wireless connectivity could be the result of interference from something possibly not even in your house.
However since some of the devices are wired it could also be an IP address problem. I would make sure all your devices have different IP addresses.
Not sure how Spotify Connect actually connects to devices on the LAN, is it Bluetooth or WiFi? Apple devices probably handle all the connectivity themselves so likely to be more stable.
Ip addresses are reserved (but echo father than fixed on the device). Connect must be Wi-Fi but airplay (streaming from Apple Music/bbc sounds ) to the amp was the same.
You’ll probably need to start unplugging stuff and or turning things off to try and isolate the issue. Maybe run some connectivity tests on the devices from a PC on the network (continuous ping etc) .
You say nothing’s changed but if it stopped working suddenly then clearly something has changed (whether or not it was a result of anything you’ve done is a different matter!). Have the devices had an update (or do they need one - firmware on the amp for example…)
maybe uninstall the apps and reinstall might be a good place to start. Reinstall one at a time and test…
lots of troubleshooting required basically, unfortunately…
Do you need to set your apps up for ‘Local network access’? Each app that needs it has the option under Settings > ‘app name’?
Seems to all be working reliably again, without having changed anything. Very very odd.
