Were they? I think they were,  but they were a good way off. Just flown over work. Pretty awesome sight flying in convoy no matter what they were.

Wondering if they were the same ones as last night/early hours on a return journey? I never heard them but the daughter was woken in the night and she thought she was in some kind of war zone 😁

We had one fly over in Gillingham, Kent last night around 6.30pm, following the Medway inland. Sounded awesome!

An Osprey flew directly over me last night, heard it coming for ages before I could see it, a distinctive noise. They probably wondered what a cyclist was doing in the middle of a farmers field (fixing a puncture).

Living near Lakenheath and Mildenhall means we get a few Apaches and F15s too.

I am North Norfolk so not far from the Lakenheath and Mildenhall as above also, sure a few times this last week we were actually being invaded by the Yanks.

Lots of Ospreys, fast jets and a wing of Apache, best though was commuting back by bike on monday night on bike, Apache was very low and hiding behind trees no more than 80m off ground, and as i rode along, front seemed to track me, which was a little exhilarating..

Look forward to summer and the start of the air shows, we often get the Battle of Britain memorial flight come over as they hug coast. Still excites me now, in addition on my commute i get to pass Norwich airport and the Vulcan, Nimrod and fast jets parked alongside road there.

@mcmoonter - they probably  use the wood stacks as navigational checks.

@wrightyson

Yeah, seems they came right down the A6 corridor, caught the last one as it past the Whitworth Hosp down at Darley Dale. I missed the main bunch as I couldn't decide if it was the noise of the kettle till too late!! 😁

Groups of Apache's are quite a common site in the North Tyne Valley ..along with low flying jets / transporter planes etc..whats the fuss ! 😁

Then again Otterburn Camp is just over the hill 8 miles away ..

Just watched two long bows land at Halfpenny green airfield (ahem, sorry, Wolverhampton business airport) they’re bigger than they look!
