You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I am giving my gf a lift to Leavesden next Saturday. I'll be free from 9:00 to 4:00. Is there anywhere to ride off road nearby? If not I can take the car but don't want to drive more than say, 30 miles away.
Any suggestions?
I’m a bit further North so don’t know Watford. My hunch is gravel not MTB
I’d sugest Wendover for old school Mtb or get off the train at Bletchley and ride at Woburn or Leighton Buzzard and ride at Rushmere . Both are pay and play

Lots of gravel type riding in the Chilterns to the north.
ampthill has it - the farm opposite Chequers also serves good coffee and ice cream!
And has a good bike shop!
To echo the above, lots of good xc riding between Princes Risborough and Wendover
@ampthill etc - Small Dean lane & the bridleway diversion are currently closed due to HS2 works - they are currently building the over bridge.
You'd need to divert via London road (not nice) and dunsmore lane to follow that route.
Thanks but ☹️

Don't think it will be too long* before it's back up & running, bridge was well under way.
* Well in HS2 timescales...
I used to ride in Whippendale Woods in Watford about 10 years ago. I hear they are building a bike park there now so no idea if the trails are still there and running or it's all under construction and off limits?
Lots of gravel / easy XC type stuff in Ashridge and Chilterns.
Woburn and Rushmere are about 40mins drive from Watford and a very good giggle.
I grew up ripping around Whippendale Woods on my Grifter. It's not technically challenging and there aren't any marked trails as such but you can easily waste a few hours nosing around searching out surprisingly fun singletrack. Then head over to The Cricketers in Sarratt.
It’s a bit further out than Whippendell, but the Ashridge estate is a pretty good area. Lots of tracks to explore. Some pretty steep stuff in places too.
