Hi,

Anyone know of a nice place to eat near Flyup 417? Ideally a pub for dinner but could do with somewhere good for breakfast too.

Cheers all.

Nearest for dinner is Air Balloon, however it's very much a mass catering, pre-packed and reheated meals type place, distinctly average.

Much better within a ten minute drive (depending where you're staying):

Golden Heart at Nettleton Bottom (I'm not joking)
Green Dragon in Cobberley
Foston's Ash in, er the middle of nowhere
Queen Victoria in Longford
Colesbourne Inn in Colesbourne
A number of restaurants on Bath Road in Cheltenham (Indian Brasserie and Moran's of particular note)

And within 15 minutes there's the whole of the centre of Cheltenham, lots of good restaurants. Same to Cirencester in the other direction.

For breakfast I'd be heading to Bath Road.

12 bells is the closest pub, has a beefeater on the side and is where the holiday inn is located also.

Or get a takeaway and go and sit at the top of the cheese rolling hill and egg one another on to ride it

First thing that popped into my head seeing that :

"Burger Star, Bogs Not Far!"

(from their "best by far" advert on severn sound that played through most of the late 80's / early 90's)
