You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi all,
My company has a team of about 40 engineers dotted around the country. I'm trying to improve how we ship products to them and our customers, how we track these shipments etc.
Does anyone work for a company with a field team, and mind me asking some questions about the logistics side of things?
Thanks!
Duane.
Been on both sides.
But I suspect my field and your field are very different
We used ByBox, carried most of our spares with us and just put in orders for replenishment and they magically turned up in a box close to my house first thing in the morning.
The good thing was the closest one was actually a nice ride, and faster on a bike in rush hour so I could get a sneaky ride in 😀
Thanks both - I'll PM you.
Cheers,
Duane.
One of the best systems we had was based around getting stuff delivered to petrol stations as they were 24/7 operations and were all over the country. I don't know if it's still a thing as it was about 20 years ago.
Interesting! Were they Amazon-lockerbox style points? Or deliveries actually left behind the till?
We are a electric vehicle charging company so we hope to eventually replace petrol stations, so it could be an interesting partnership..! 😛
Cor, wish i'd read that before i replied to your email, all of my clients are petrol stations 😉
They were in a locked cage that the staff had access to. Things were allegedly moved round by the delivery tankers so there was a size/weight limit, but never caused us issues because our kit was all PCB's and PC style PSU's
We offload all that to logistics specialists and don’t bother wasting our own time on it. Works well, based on a service level agreement piggy backing off a massive global logistics network.`
