Neighbour has a 3month old black male lab. Its a lovely thing. Really lively and sociable however my neighbours wife has a back problem (not ideal I know with hindsight but everytime he jumps/knocks into it has been causing back spasms) and they want to rehome to current Lab/Retriever owners i.e. someone who knows what to expect/getting themselves in for.
Does anyone know anyone in the NWest/WYorks area that'd want him? I think its fair (as its a pedigree and still young) to ask something for him. Thats fair?!
There is epupz but they fear he'd be used/targetted(?) possibly to be a stud dog?
Finding a good home is the most important and I think paying for the dog does contribute to that screening process, in the sense are the new owners serious about wanting a dog and understanding the costs.
Back to the breeder. Any responsible breeder would take a 3 month old pup back instantly. Any responsible breeder would also be livid if they found out someone had rehomed one of their pups after just a few weeks without informing them. They might also offer to refund some of the original costs.
If they're not responsible and refuse, then send him to breed-specific rescue who will have no problem placing a 3 month old pup. A decent breed specific rescue will also offer advice. linky.
Private rehoming is (usually) a really bad idea. Without wishing to sound rude, your neighbours are probably not the best judge of what a good home will be given the circumstances.
what Helios said seems fair. Contact the breeder first.
If I was in the same country as you and your neighbour, i'd take the puppy.
Yes....seeing as its only been 4 weeks since they bought it off the breeder, he should be the best port of call. As for expecting money back....not in my opinion.
I'll have him if they dont get anywhere with the breeders....
Owned 2 springers and 1 female lab over the years but currently without any. I'm based in Glossop, Deryshire.
if it was a reputable breeder, return the puppy and lesson learned.
else, bag and a canal?
i have a 6 year old black lab and we have been talking about getting another one soon...
Where are you based? Ideal would be to bring yours with to see how they got on. We wouldn't have him- our lad is scared of dogs still 🙁

This is sensible advice.
The breeder should offer to resell it, passing on a proportion of funds to your neighbour, I'd say. Or offer it for sale back to the breeder.
unfortunately i am in essex. i'm pretty sure most rescue places wouldn't let us have one as we both work (5 mins from home) even though we pay a fortune to 2 different dog walkers and all the rest. i have avoided just buying another one as i would like to rescue one if we can.
I'll speak to them tonight re the breeder option. I was greeted with the dog out on the road in our drive/road at lunchtime as someone must have put a leaflet through their door and left the gate open..
hora, just txtd a mate who is looking for a labby.
I have a 6yr old bitch, my mate had a 6yr old boxer, he died recently.
Just out of interest - how did they get on with the breeder?
I'll ask- I've been out the last few nights on the bike 8) What did matey say ton?
awwwww... I would, but I can't commit, therefore shouldn't sadly. fingers crossed for the lil fell

Given the circumstances, I'm not sure the breeder is any better as a judge of character.
