bought one in July, now it is really glitchy, keeps black screening (still on as vibrates etc when calls come in but no response. If i reset it work agains for a bit but then does the same. I.e. really slow and laggy or black screening 🙁
I have a G6 standard that does similar with the black screen. Maybe once a week I have to hold down the power button until it resets otherwise the screen is completely unresponsive.
Must be a software thing but it doesn't happen often enough for me to have tried to do anything about it.
Ive just done a factory reset, see how that goes. Its a bit shit tbh
I picked up a G8 powerlite in September. So far i'm not as impressed as I thought I might be. Had a G3 for 5 years that had a better camera.
This G8 can freeze quite often or not respond to simple processes quickly.
not had any black screen issues
the camera is properly shite too on this 🙁 My old iphone se beats it hands down apart from screen 🙁
I have a G8 Power. Not the fastest and the camera can be a bit laggy to use but no real problems and for the money I’m very happy with it. Battery life is excellent. Yours sounds a bit dodgy.
There is one rather entertaining feature, when the phone restarts it goes through a period of flashing colours with a Motorola logo. When this happens bedside following a 1am automatic software update the other half absolutely loves it 😀
I do, it's great.
G8 power here, has very annoying bugs similar to my G7. Screen scrolls really fast to bottom if you touch lower right, it rotates without being asked, camera takes the odd brown photo, Android auto is buggy as hell in each of the cars I have tried but not sure if that is phone or app. The battery life is great though.
I have one.
It is alright.
Great battery and haven't noticed any bugs, but have cracked the screen in two separate areas. I've been on three different Sony Xperia for the preceding 7 years which are notoriously fragile without cracking a single screen but the G8 Power has been damaged twice in two months from innocuous drops.
I've got one and the only issue I've had is after an update where the phone restarts itself, the phone doesn't properly restart. So it needs a factory reset, which can be a pain in the arse.
Got to agree with the general consesus about Moto G phones.
I had a G1 and G3 and now a G6 for the last 2 years. I think when this one dies I'll be moving to a different brand. Motorola phones just aren't what they used to be. Main complaint as others have said - the camera is rubbish. I press to take a photo and I've manage to put the thing back in my pocket before it actually takes the photo. Then I go to look at it later and wonder what the dark blurred mess of an image is.
In comparison, my wife has a Samsung Galaxy A51 and it's lightning fast. I just don't know if I could ever get used to the back button being on the other side of the screen.
G8 plus has a very good camera, for a 240 quid phone anyway. I liked the idea of the power, can't quite recall why I plumped for the plus, mibbe power doesn't have NFC? or the plus has a better camera? it was one of the two.
Granted I'm comparing to a 5 year old S7, but I think the G8plus is very good.
G8 Power doesn't have NFC, or wi-fi calling, and camera isn't great - acceptable in typical daylight but very bright or dark situations, or when things are moving, it is poor.
I've got a Samsung S8 edge that I inherited but the Samsung UI is so poor I've gone back to the G8, even with it's flaws.
Aye, No NFC was the clincher, I remember now.

This, far too often.
EDIT: i cant do this quoting thing
I had an 8 Power Lite and dropped into the road out my cycle jersey pocket 2 weeks in - properly caput!
Now on G9 Play which has NFC, similar battery etc. No complaints so far.
I have a G7 Power and haven't had any issues as you described. Yours sounds faulty / broken. I'd take it back if its still under warranty.

I usually leave my phone face down at night so messages don't disturb me but one night I forgot and it did this. I woke up confused and thought there was a rave going on in my bedroom.
G8 Power doesn’t have NFC, or wi-fi calling,
No NFC which was a surprise. I just assumed that all phones came with it now, like Bluetooth. Only when I came to set up Google Pay did I realise it was missing.
My G8 Power does have WiFi calling though.
