B&Q have some, guess other places do as well?
It's to go in the kitchen when it's done soon.
I think the solid floor is pretty uneven but will assess once kitchen is stripped out, so I'm thinking it'll be beyond sorting out with leveling
stuff so will need some flexibility in whatever we put down.
Just wondered if it's easy to DIY or to get some 'posh' lino fitted?
Ta.

If you mean click laminate flooring, I've used it - it's good, does what it says on the tin. You need a level floor though. I have some in my Bathroom at the moment which is supposed to be specifically for bathrooms and kitchens. It's not lasted well in a damp/wet environment, might do better in a kitchen but crap in a bathroom.

Had the Howdens stuff fitted in my kitchen. Didn't do it myself, Oh no! but it looks decent. Got a chip in it where I dropped a knife, which I was gutted about at the time, but can't even remember where it was now!

Aquastep or Coretec are both 'no wood' laminates that are great for bathrooms and kitchens. I have Coretec (which is slightly cheaper) in the hall, utility and all the bathrooms. Floor does need to be level so you will need to put some compound down before you lay it. Very easy to put down.

Dez - if you do find the chip then the little repair kits you can get work well.

Ooh, thanks. I'll look out for that next time I'm in B&Q 🙂

Creak. Need very level floor and even then they can flex and creak once they get moisture in and start expanding/shrinking/warping.

Personally I can't stand the sound of walking on them. Clack, clack, clack. Not like proper wood.

I'm pretty happy with Karndean tile stuff I've got. Looks like solid tiles, sounds and feels solid to walk on but stuff dropped on it doesn't necessarily shatter as easy as a hard surface. Still really need a level floor though, else the stuff will split if there's movement. Karndean now do clip together wood look vinyl too I see, that's like the laminate stuff but vinyl like their tiles.

+1 on karndean, amtico or similar vinyl tiles. We had most of our downstairs done with it and people think it's real wood but it was half the price.

creak? Nope
Clack? Nope.

Not like proper wood. Obvious statement is obvious, but a damn site cheaper than proper wood.

We have Karndean and I don't think it looks like real wood at all, however we are very happy with it – we got it as we have a dog, two young children and the main door into the house and bi-folds into the garden open up straight on to it and it cleans up perfectly. It has also been skated / scooted on and after a year there isn't a mark on it.

At our last place we had unfinished engineered oak and sealed with Osmo PolyX Oil but (despite what we had hoped) it marked and even with sanding down and resealing in patches it still started to look tired in high traffic areas.

I agree but then I know it's not. Other people don't seem to notice.

I guess it does depend on the style you get - ours has a wood effect but the colour (to match our kitchen) isn't particularly realistic.

No not laminate guys as the floor isn't level enough, it's a click together lino stip which has some flexibility

I have just done our kitchen using the 'Quickstep Livyn Ambient' stuff.
Its light a combination of click together laminate and Karndean flooring as it has a clear top layer that wears away instead of the normal printed layer of laminate flooring.

Bit more expensive than the B&Q stuff but seems good quality and is supposed to be fully waterproof, looks like real tiles too with micro bevels on the edges.

My floor is pretty level but used some thermal underlay with it anyway, you can use it with or without underlay anyway.
Hardest part was finding somewhere that stocks it, all said I'd recommend the quickstep stuff.
