I'm booked on the 0630 Newcastle to London train and I'm regretting it, so looking to make the journey a bit more comfortable by upgrading to first class. I can buy an upgrade on Seatfrog for 40 quid, which feels a bit steep, or I can wait for the auction and hope.
Has anyone used them, got an idea how much competition there is in the auctions?
Used it for a few years. Can be hit & miss with auction - bit more miss than hit these days.
I usually upgrade my evening homeward leg and enjoy a something to eat & few beers. Not sure I could sup £40 worth of coffee! 🤣
Sometimes (not always) the auction ends and you can still buy a fixed price upgrade but I think it depends on availability.

Also found the auctions a bit hit and miss, but you can usually snag an upgrade for about £20.
It’s £30 just to upgrade on the train if you miss out on the app and it averages less than this because the guards forget to go and get the card machine.
