Looking for a single trip european breakdown cover policy for Sept, couple of weeks max.
GreenFlag is significantly less than AA / RAC, but is that because it's bobbins?
Any experiences gratefully listened to!
For most motorway rescues you'll be using the mway phones and initially paying for whoever they send (eg Germany will be ADAC and 200 euros cash). Was fairly painless to claim back from Green Flag once back home. One other option is ring your breakdown provider immediately after using the mway phone - they will sometimes authorise direct ADAC etc payment whilst you are waiting for the truck.
Not had to use Green Flag beyond that.
There is an advantage to doing the cash and reclaim - you usually aren't allowed repeated callouts for the same problem, so it keeps a second rescue (and the full hire car / hotel / transport car home) in the bag if a problem returns.
cant comment on greenflag  but can on AA as they have been great on three breakdowns over the years for me . Knackered Turbo  repaired in 3 days  , Wheel bearing repaired in 3 days  and broken drive shaft  organised repair and hire car to get us home then flew me out to collect van after repair .
pay for the spares and labour  if you need it it is worth it
Green Flag sorted us out when the T4 cracked its head in the alps.
We manged to drive it to our local garage, but it needed a week there for a new head. Green flag sorted out a hire car for the whole week, hire company even drove it up the valley to us 1hr from the depot.
We still use GF for annual European cover and they didnt rack up our premiums after the claim either.
We used Vehicle Rescue Direct a couple of years ago because the car was older than 12 years (just) and everyoneone else wanted to charge a fortune because of that. They came out cheaper than AA/RAC would have for a younger car.
We had no problems so didn't have to use them, but reviews were generally positive.
