I'm after a smart shoe that I can wear with normal clothing for strolling about through fields & bridleways, but waterproof and cushioned.

Something like the top photo one is what's in my mind, but the more shoe-like the better.

If anyone's got any suggestions - and how they size up - that would be great. Thanks.

Brashers. Red socks pulled up to knees, not compulsory.

Ecco track 25. I wear them all day. Goretex membrane and last well. Really comfy and last well. Pricey but worth it. Shop around for best price as they do vary.

I've got some Skechers that do that. Leather lace-ups in a vaguely boat shoe style. Lightweight, cushioned, goretex membrane, pretty much my go-to holiday shoe, and comfy without socks for hot days too.
