only really need my glasses from time to time but i refuse to pay the rip-off prices in the high street for so called "designer brands"

seem quite cheap

i used selectspecs last year with no probs, much cheaper than high st

+1 for selectspecs. Mine were about 14 quid all in! I wear them every day and have no probs. For 14 quid you can afford to play around with styles, too.

Last ones were over 200 quid on the high street and I destroyed them at Glencorrwg

Used glassesdirect for my last pair. Can pick four that you like the look of, they post them to you to try at home (which is great, can't tell that the arms hurt your ears based on 10 secs in a shop), you post them back and order the ones you like.

I have quite a strong prescription so need the super-thin lenses else they end up stupidly thick at the sides - the likes of specsavers charge a fortune to upgrade to them but the internet places are usually far more reasonable.

I just got some from One Stop Eyecare - very happy and the guy was very helpful, even phoned me up to discuss frame size options.
