I'm thinking of using it for a wee idea I have. It seems to take a lot of pain out of the process, and I've used it as a punter for free events in the past. Anyone used it for paid events? Any thing to be aware of? Alternatives that do similar things?

Yup, used it a few times (well, set it up on behalf of clients at least).

For the purpose of selling tickets to put bums in seats for events, its pretty spot on tbh - their support has always been ace whenever we've needed them too.

Yes I've used it for a few conferences I've run.  Works really well. Just worth noting that it does obviously charge a fee, and doesn't pay out the money until 5 days after the event so you need the cash up front. Someone might have a way round that.

I've used it as a punter to buy tickets twice, seems OK.

Some users might get spooked by being redirected to an external pay site they are not familiar with, but other than that functionaly works well.

If you make the ticket cost the deposit and collect the balance on arrival then you might get round it that way for cash up front or at least on the day but it depends how reliable your customers are...

We use Billeto on Bespoked Bike show, pretty good.

Thanks all. The fees for Eventbrite seem reasonable, but I'll have a look at Biletto too.

Used Eventbrite several times and its great you can set the payout before the event finishes to pay for stuff!

I've never used it for a charged event, but we use it a lot for free ones. And it's really pretty good- reasonably intuitive, well featured. The management info isn't quite as good as it used to be, and it has a couple of wee blind spots like not being able to add more people to a booking after it's complete. And infuriatingly, if you have an event with sessions in it, it'll let people doublebook themselves.  But I think most users would never come across that.
