Fancy getting one for some core strength excercises and probably won't be slamming it so was thinking one with the handles may be a good idea for some sit ups, crunches, twists, wood choppers etc. was thinking maybe a 6kg one but not sure?
Anyone?
I use a 12kg one at the gym for Russian twists and a 10 for everything else. I think most would quickly outgrow a 6, my girlfriend uses an 8 and she is tiny. A big mirror is useful too to watch your form.
was looking at this workout and it says to use a 6, 8 or 10lb ball

10lbs is only 4.5kg though?
I think I will try that work out with a 5kg weight plate, and then a 10kg weight plate see how I fair.
Any advantage in getting a ball with handles or a traditional one?
Slamming/thowing them seems to be a common excercise for MMA, and I am doing this for strenght for karate, maybe a "normal" one would be better?
situps/crunches/twists are poor core exercises. The job of the core is to stabilise your whole body, so you need to concentrate on exercises that reflect this. I prefer body weight exercises for this purpose because then you are not restricted to a proper workout, you can do them anytime throughout the day when you have a spare minute. I do most of those exercises with a 10kg and I don't consider myself overly strong. The handles help keep form with what your article calls 'rocky solo' but I wouldn't consider a handle essential. I was just talking to my girlfriend about this, she sometimes goes to a 1 hour toning class were they use 6-8kg ones.
sounds like a 10kg is the way to go then, will try it with a plate and see how I get on.
Hmm, just tried a few with a 10kg plate, was dooable for some of them, but not for others, maybe due to the awkwardness of the plat, maybe Ill get an 8 to start off.
