I use the Garmin equivalent - had a vivo, went to a FR10 and now I have a Fenix 3.
I use it to try to make sure I get my 10,000 steps in

Got a vivosmart 3 weeks ago, finding it more useful especially at work as I have to look/check the phone less as it makes various noises.
A fit bit does less than a vivosmart but it will make you more active. Mine it linked to my life insurance policy and I get rewards for the more exercise I do.
