Looks like a swingers club with a farm shop - interesting concept!

there's not a whole lot to do around Stadhampton...(course, that may be the objective!)

more to do around Beaconsfield

or [in a similar but nicer area] try http://www.swanatstreatley.com/. But don't eat in; it's not worth it. Instead, go to one of the better pubs nearby.

Bring a road bike, and try the national hill climb route - this weekend of course

Yep. Enjoyed it there, wouldn’t go back though as there are plenty of other places out there.

Would probably only want some food, drinks in the bar, breakfast and home - Oxford is 2hrs from where I am in Derbyshire - CBA to go much further south

Decent enough for an overnight stay then?

streatley is about 10 miles further south. And if you stick on the A34 it's probably quicker from the north

The few times I've been to the Bear (both Stadhampton/Beaconsfield) it's full of people up from London for a weekend away. there are much nicer places around.

And I remember - even when steaming drunk - being shocked at the price of drinks in the beaconsfield branch one evening

Ah, fair enough. Caught my eye as it looked 'different' and the swingers club look could be good for a mucky weekend 😉

The Swan looks very nice, but the same as a thousand other hotels

Yep. A group of us went about 3 years ago for a village night away.
Not a swingers event. Honest.

Make sure you lock the door of the bedroom! Mrs Door went to the ladies loo when we were there (Stadhampton one) a few weeks back and got the wrong door, walked in on a young couple in the bath. Realised (eventually!) that she'd made a mistake and got the wrong door so went in the next door along to find a man in bed. Made her excuses and left (eventually)...
Apparently it's the rooms upstairs with the black padded doors, if you end up in one of those.
