My new one has "AGO" at its end, I've always fancied a LOL, WTF or OMG plate.

Both come up at £156 on some reg website, is that realistic?

It's be more tempting if I could break even after the change fee (of £80 x 1?)

I sold R11 CEV on ebay for £140ish.
Broke even on the costs of transfering the plate and getting the new one on the car. Pretty much why the value doesnt go below £150.
I had spent some time researching Mr/Mrs V Rice* on the electoral register and writing to them telling them it was going on ebay. Also rice importers 🙂 I never found out if the winning bidder got one of my letters.

It's a pain in the arse for anything other than a high value plate.

* I bet I ended up writing to the recently divorced ex Mrs Rice asking to sell her old married plate back to her 🙂

one of my greatest fears* is that some ****er will buy me one with a badly mis-spelt approximation of my name

*you know, behind global famine but ahead of a quinoa shortage

Look on the DVLA website direct, no £80 fee and you'll probably find that the regs you've been looking at are on there..

"Both come up at £156 on some reg website..."

I'll wager that's (£156 + £80) + VAT = £283, and that it's available from DVLA for £250 all-in.

As for selling the old number, don't bother unless it's a really good one. Way too much hassle.

FWIW I have M3 ETK, if anyone wants to buy it....

Got a "private" plate with my last car and sold it on via redtransfers or someone. Was relatively painless but got £250 rather than the £400 I was asking.

I think they were advertising it for £750 with the £350 being commission/fees and imagine they eventually sold for £4-500.

It was pretty painless other than the waiting for it to sell but I really didn't have to do much.

I bought a Jaguar that had the plate A11 JAG.

Sold that straight away for £1500 through Reg Transfers and was very smug.

The following year it was up on another website for £15,000.

Ah.
