Putting together a mini adventure film festival for a few mates at home. Plenty of ideas for MTB stuff from here, but wondered has anyone seen any really good mountaineering, snowboard/ski, paragliding, surfing, films (that sort of stuff etc) recently?
Ideally shorter films are best as we can get through a few, must be easily available to watch online (i.e. no subscription/sign up).
So then, fire away 🙂
this is ok in a chilled way.
Adidas claim freedom film, on YouTube. Watched it last night some great kayak footage on it.
See what you can find from Reel Rock or Teton Gravity Research on Vimeo
I don't know if this counts but "Valley Uprising" on Netflix
History of Yosemite climbing with a bit of base jumping and slack lining
Short film? Fatbikes, desert, climbing & rafting included?
There's a few from Specialized's Adventure series here. The one with Steve Fassbinder is the desert film https://www.specialized.com/us/en/adventure-dispatch
Don't forget this classic.
Have a look on http://www.beontherope.com/en/ - there are usually a good selection on there, although you would need to look into permissions/copyright etc.
Petzl also makes some good films https://www.petzl.com/GB/en/Sport/Community, although again, not sure how you would get permission to screen them
Thanks guys, some good ideas there, not really screening them as such, just a few mates, a few beers, at home with a laptop and projector 🙂
Have a look on Red Bull TV.
Mainly mountaineering documentaries but he has his own kayak adventures on here I think.

There used to be one on YouTube called flight of the frenchies
I enjoyed this
Check out the Banff film festival films, always good quality
Romancing The Stone? 😉
North of the sun (surf / snowboard) documentary is good if you can find it.
Look up The North Face on youtube (sponsored films by the clothing company) they have some interesting films e.g. the free solo climber Alex Honnold.
Fledglings
Towers of Ennedi
180o South
National Geographic did a shorts series rock climbing in China incredible cliffs that is good.
Saw this at Brit Rock film festival (I think) in Hebden Bridge cinema... probably the best film there if I am honest. You wouldn't think a fell running film could be so good!

Have you had a look at the SteepEdge website.
Its now owned by Alpkit, lots of good things to rent or buy, some freebies too.

- Just seen the date for the initial post! Ah well.
I am going to assume there used to be a post between mine and the 7 month one that got deleted. Otherwise I am none the wise to how I managed to find this thread. Oh well I'll just look like a right spammer!
"Northbound" is incredible, it's a skateboarding film set on a frozen Scandinavian beach. I saw it at SHAFF and was so impressed, I am not a skater and thought it was beautiful. I had to visit the SHAFF site to check it's name and it apparently won best film of the festival so my opinion is not alone!
I'd also recommend Untethered, it's about free solo slacklining. It made me want to move to Canada more than any riding film ever has.

Spam, indeed.
