Came off on black ice on commute last week resulting in 2 crowns broken, one resulting in breaking root of tooth so had to be extracted, other crown shattered which needs replacing and other broken tooth had a facing and there isn’t much of that one left.

It would be at least a plate of 2 teeth (upper left 1 and 2 and possibly upper right 1)

Just weighing up options of costs vs expected life of bridge and implants.

Does the plate come loose on rough descents? I guess it depends a lot on the quality and fitment.

How long do dentures typically last ?

Thanks

I have most of my upper teeth on a plate due to motorcycle/ car interface in my youth - you want a stainless steel jobby that clips to your own teeth. Very secure and a lot less faff/ expense than implants...

As for longevity I’ve had these over 10 years and no reason to replace anytime soon.

I have an upper plate with approx half my teeth on it. I use a small amount of fixative each night when I wash and clean it. Plate stays in place all day (and night) with no problems.

I did have the wires to hook round remaining teeth but found them an irritation and they kept hurting my tongue. They fell off and I didn't replace them.

Had this plate more than 10 years now and it's been trouble free.

Depends if implants are possible, usually they dont do the very front ones because there is a risk of going too deep and opening up the sinus channel. I had the second from the front tooth (the one that looks like a vampire fang) replaced via implant and there was a risk with that one. All went well though and it should be good for life now. Just needs a check after ten years to make sure it stays tight, so another 6 years to go, and it came with a 20 year guarantee on the tooth.

I've never heard that about front teeth implants, my colleague has both front teeth implants and I have my second incisor implanted, no issues for either of us. Yes it was expensive but it should be a permanent solution
