Punk (to me from my yoof, so that won't age me at all 😀 )
Subhumans
Culture shock
ENT
Discharge
Crass
Conflict
Poison Idea
Dead Kennedys
Very early Damned before their awful pseudo goth efforts
Minor threat

I was about to ask WTF is "math rock" but someone got there before me. How silly some of these labels are

but don't get me started on "goth" 😉 Marilyn Manson is not goth no matter how you dress him up...

quite agree old bean, anything after the late 80's had turned into a long haired pastiche with "fields of the nephilim" on the back of it's jacket and a uniform. At which point true goth had died and become just another label for the lazy gits to slap on any band that wore a bit of black and had some eyeliner

how about "less than jake" and if you like abit of random trumpet action "Reel big fish" have some brilliant feel good songs which can also make you laugh. 🙂

just illustrating that "punk" can be many different types of band, depending on your age/subculture at the time. To me stuff like the buzzcocks or the ramones was not punk in the slightest, and "pop-punk" is again a strange old label that'll mean many different things to many different folks.
