The boss is looking at a new car, she doesn't want to spend much but quite likes the look of these.

There are a few for sale within good distance, would be looking 2008ish and a 1.4 model.

Any owner experiences? Most of what I have read has been positive.

Its just a Corsa underneath with a more fancy bodywork so shouldn't be too bad. Despite the Vauxhall snobs, and those trying to be like Clarkson, they aren't too bad a car.

Mechanic I know said they were pretty sound and I never had any problems with the couple of Corsas I had around that time period.

Won't catch me dissing Vauxhalls, my dad had every new Astra that came out and never had problems, I'm currently enjoying the 1.7D SRI and so I have no issues with the badge.

Corsa does seem to be fairly reliable so that's a good start.

Girl that used to work here had one - I think it was a 2 litre petrol.
She used to grumble occasionally that it wasn't very economical & had to stick it in the dealership for some expensive roof mechanism repairs when the roof got stuck.

Apart from that she liked it.

Yep, won't be touching the bigger engine model.

1.4 sounds quite economical.

Mrs the greek has had 2. The 1.8 petrol and the 1.3 cdti. Great little car, fun in the summer and very practical (unless you want to fit a bike in). Despite losing half the boot space when the roof is down, we managed to tour around France for 2 weeks with 4 cases/bags in. Given the choice I would go for the 1.8 again with leather.
As far as problems watch for the seat bolsters on the drivers side wearing.
If you want to go away in it you can get specific luggage for behind the front seats.

Wasn't this the one Hammond quite liked on Top Gear?
