I'm bored at work, reading loads of threads on which ebike to buy, and then loads of threads on which turbo to buy.
It amuses me that quarter of the population seen to be spending a fortune on a bike that they can take further for less effort, and another quarter are spending a fortune on a bike that will take them less far (nowhere) for more effort.
Which is moderately amusing, but would be even more so if some people are actually doing both...
Anyone?
I'm trying to borrow an e-bike for a couple of months but that's because I've been wiped out with long covid for 11 months and all my local riding - Peak - is hilly and I'm trying to ride to a relatively low HR limit. And I have a turbo too.
I don't think it's particularly amusing mind. People who whinge about riding through mud in winter though... 😉
I ride an ebike to commute on and a non ebike road bike at the weekends. I also use the non ebike on a turbo during the worst of the winter weather. Struggling to know wby such activities should amuse the OP. Not that I give a toss what they think to be honest.
Does anyone ride an e-bike on their turbo trainer for the Zwift wins?
The only reason i would buy a turbo is to give me more reason to go out on the bike, weirdly an ebike gives you a lot more range to do that now, so those days you're not 100%, or feeling a bit out of it, just flick it up and use the assistance more.
Anyone?
Yep!
Just did a lunchtime Zwift session, Done with work about 4.30 today so will head out for a power hour on the eeb then. Difference being i'll get 6 laps in on EMTB mode, Vs 2 of slogging on the other bike. 🙂
Can I ask @Hob-nob - what's the point of doing "laps" on an ebike?
Surely just go further, do more, see more? Laps are the preserve of people who want to get fit on their bike, no?
Unless you're talking laps of a short downhill / jump bit in the woods. More of that I can understand (and can totally see the point of ebikes for that - rather than having to push back up a hill to come back down again, tear up it one max boost and then hit the jumps again).

This, basically. All my riding is predominantly gravity based trails, lucky enough to live in an area where we're spoilt for choice, so a quick blast up to the top of the top of the hill, I have a choice of maybe 10-12 different trails to hit in that one place.
I’ve both, haven’t used them together mind.
Turbo is/was something to do in lockdown, or in deep midwinter when it’s grim out. Ebike is for when I’m not feeling it, commuting or going out with much fitter riders.
Having one does not make the other redundant.
Yes, both.
The point of an e-bike is.. no single point. It does lots of things different to a bike. Doing laps on it might mean you are sharpening your skills one one section, or recovering from injury, or clearing your head, or testing the range, or just being outside etc.
Ditto indoor trainer - hundreds of different reasons to use it, one of which might be to get fitter for outside riding.
One is an apple, one is an orange, sometimes you might have both on the same day for the sheer craziness of it.
could you put your ebike on your turbo?
I could but my ebikes wider than my garage and my TV is on the side wall.
What I need is a trolly for my telly then I could just soft pedal on my cargo ebike to zwift medeocraty
could you put your ebike on your turbo?
Technically yeah, if I bought the right adapter for the rear axle, and a more appropriate tyre than a 2.5 Minion.
Not sure I could bring myself to...
