We are thinking of doing a Main Grant Scheme application for some local cycle trails. We are working with the local council on council land, but we will be doing the app. We are a volunteer MTB trail building group (chairman, secretary, Treasurer, charter etc) with good history of 10 years working with FC. I believe the council will provide funding support as well, certainly they a buying tools and offering machinery and materials to support us volunteers. I'm looking for contacts with experiences of WREN funding apps and advice.
Thanks
I used to do this (countyside grants) 10 years or so ago, but ask your local council contact if anyone in their countryside section / department has more up-to-date experience. I remember WREN ones are the worst of the bunch!
My first stop though would be to find your local voluntary services council, and ask to have a chat / meeting with someone there who deals with grant applications and just ask for pointers both in filling in the form correctly, but also generally check to make sure you've not made any mistakes and also little hints and tips.
Good luck 🙂
p.s. I remember that WREN were really particular if you match-fund from other sources (e.g. where is the council money coming from? is it coming from capital or revenue funding streams? just do due dilligence on it so you've got to be careful about separating the two), and be exact about amounts / timescales if the local council are providing material, likewise estimated volunteer time, etc
