I’m off to the Southampton Boat show Friday - first time at one. Is anybody going/exhibiting there?

Looking forward to just wandering the stalls checking out the kit.

Im planning to retire in 10-12 years and disappear on a little boat for a few years (Brexit visa issues notwithstanding ) I reckon the boats on display now will be what I buy 10 years old in the future.

No, but I hope you have a nice time, I would take my own sandwiches if I was you, it can be a bit of a dear do at them sort of places, especially if you want to buy a boat.

I used to go every year in the 90’s and 00’s but haven’t been for a few years.
As above, I’d take a packed lunch and perhaps check out who is exhibiting to work out a plan of action. A lot of it is motor yachts now whereas I was always more interested in the sailing boats and small technical stands.

A friend did this. Years spent sailing and racing, The Whitbread, the channel, Scottish west coast, even a stint with the Navy racing team. He planned to retire somewhere warm, with fair winds, dark girls and plenty of weed.
Last I heard he was captaining a big Schooner over in Grenada.

Havent seen him for a long time, in fact I think he came back to the UK, but the few pics I have from when he was in the Caribbean, he was certainly looking one relaxed and happy individual. He must have been pushing 60 at that time.

I watched the axopar vid and in my humble opinion i would do away with one the berths and turn it into a better suited saloon and galley. They said the heads could be closed off in one of the models.
It just doesnt seem to have a decent galley for any extended trips.
Nice all the same, good size, not too big,not too small.

I'm in the UK, but the boat is in mallorca.

It's a good boat, goes well through fairly heavy seas, and is a fun drive, surpsingly practical as well. fit and finish is decent, but not outstanding - but then they are cheaper than a lot of others.

I had a couple of minor issues with mine, it was delivered brand new in July this year.

1. The dealer fitted the wrong prop, I eventually got the correct prop fitted, but not after a fair bit of arguing with the dealer about it and having to get the factory involved. Not a great customer experience.

2. The battery charger was wired incorrectly from the factory, just poor quality control checking really, so the batteries wouldn't charge off shore power, didn't realise until the service battery went flat after a couple of days away. Easily fixed by swapping one of the wires round to the correct terminal on the charger.

3. The bow thruster and windlass can be controlled from a wireless remote control anywhere on the boat, this remote got moisture in it and failed after a couple of weeks. I took it apart and dried it out and its working again now, but I'm not sure how long it will work for.

Aside from that we really like it,does everything we need it to do really.
