Me neither Ton. I'm still full of lurgy & can't be arsed with anything. Got lamb sandwiches & 50 Indian nibbles to get through along with loads of various booze but you know what, I'll probably be in bed by 10. 🙄

HNY anyway though!

Nah, early night for me too. I'm pretty certain I've got Ebola, so I'm trying to do damage limitation on my immune system.

We never make too big a thing of it but we are going to head out and have a pizza before retreating home well before midnight.

I haven't seen the new year in for years. I figure it will still be there in the morning when I wake up, so why stay up late for it! 🙂

Not made a big deal of NYE since my son was born. Babysitters are a bit thin on the ground on December 31st. I'll be celebrating quietly with a bottle of fizz after he's gone to bed though, because to be blunt 2014 can **** off, I'll be very glad to see the back of it.

My m8's all go to caravans in Wales - I just find it too cold so stay home and watch a good film and generally mellow....

Sick and have generally been disillusioned with nye for years so I'll be sticking in my earplugs and getting an early night.

Babysitting my nephews for the reason mintimperial mentions. I'm not that fussed about the event, and gives brother and his missus a chance to go out for once.

Got the lurgy.
Can't be arsed.
NYE is just for part time drinkers.
Its always an anticlimax.

Just back from the pub. Some nice nosh later, pop in to see some friends then down into the village to drink and mingle before the fireworks.

Never bother tbh, not due to any miserablistness - if people want to go and do the Auld Lang Syne stuff that's great but - nah, not for me thanks.

A few beers. Nice meal and board games with the kids and probably a whisky or two later but I'd be in bed before midnight if it weren't for the fact that the fireworks will wake me up and then I'll struggle to get back to sleep.

On a slightly/not at all related note, does anyone else have a "thing" about Christmas decorations in January. I have to rid the house of everything xmassy on 1st January no matter what. Thankfully the wife agrees. The kids don't though...

Unfortunately it's called nightshift 😥

Bed at 9pm, probably asleep by 10, yes, it's the biggest load of pointless garbage since Christmas, happy f***** new year, my ar**.

I will be even angrier when i walk down our local high street tomoz and see all the shop fronts and bus stops smashed.

I'm with my family to village hall with 13 other families of primary school aged kids. I'll be off at 9pm as have a 6am start tomorrow morning, not decided if I'll have a pint or two, and not too fussed if I don't.

Quiet one for me. Out riding at afan with my boy today, missus ill on the sofa, some nice chilli and nachos later, and relaxing having a beer. Dont mind at all if I'm in bed before 12 so i can be up early for another ride tomorrow and then roast lamb dinner yippee!

LOL. Why do those who can't handle their booze feel the need to drink the most?!

Always had a better time at house parties/private parties than fighting the scrum at a pub but just tend to stay in these days tbh.

We never make too big a deal of it tbh, realistically I priced both of my bands out of playing tonight too so not working it either....I've no great desire to have to learn a load of tunes I don't want to play just in order to get a NYE gig so I wanted big money to do it.

So, we're making a nice Paella, have plenty on nice wine in and will settle down after a nice meal to watching a film or carrying on watching Dexter on Netflix. We've got OAP's living either side of us so there'll be no noisy parties to worry about, we'll probably go to bed when the worst of the fireworks are done. We're hoping to go out for a nice walk tomorrow before doing our traditional New Years Day roast.

Happy New Year everyone!

I'm not off out but I am cooking a (hopefully) nice meal for me and the wife, there will be a bottle of fizz and a bottle of red involved. There may even be Port later as well. I'm really rather looking forward to it.

Amen to that.
Mrs_d has been in treatment for breast cancer since July. Last round of chemo done today. As if that's not bad enough, her sister's husband died of pancreatic cancer in September. and now been told my mum has a stoma in her bowel which will need surgery and chemo in the new year. Yes, 2014 has not been a good year.

One of the best NYE i had was in Disneyland Paris
Fancy Meal at Walts
Then walk into Main St and see the fireworks then back to hotel to drink kerr royales...

Weird feeling being absolutely smashed in disneyland....

Also

Had a good one In New York - Meal in planet Hollywood - watching the NY celebrations around the world on the screens...

Cant be assed to fly nowadays - too much hassle.

Usually go to a friends house party, but that's not on this year. Going to the local with a mate for a few beers in a minute, but won't be late back.

Mrs is ill on the sofa, we might see the new year in with a bottle of fizz. I have the means to chuck an all nighter, but not planning on doing.

Couple of good venues in town and a mate is doing a DJ set, but just can't be arsed

I'm not going out, getting loads of stick off my friends for my decision too. I see no need to go out and have to fight to get to the bar at my local pub. Especially when I can happily walk in most other nights of the year and get a pint straight away while not been surrounded by folk who never go in there any other night of the year either.

I will mostly be cooking myself a nice meal, great bottle of red wine and watch a few movies while the log burner is roaring.

Meeting friends from NZ who are visiting and staying with us for a beer and then a curry. Will head home and see in the new year with wife and daughter hopefully asleep upstairs. Not fussed really but it's a nice buzz in Edinburgh.

We don't usually do anything fancy on NYE. Mr Pea is doing his accounts and I'm lounging on the sofa with the cat purring on my knee. I'm going to cook something nice as soon as Mr Pea moves his pile of bank statements off the cooker top!

Meant to be up at a mates party but the STW Lurgy claimed me as a victim last week and i'm not over it yet so there's nae point in heading to the sort of party where i'd end up ripping shite out of my immune system with copious amounts of consumables, and prob dance n' sweat like a loon all night…..….gonna be very sensible and have my tea which consists of a viciously hot Phall i made yesterday, also got a huge tub of yoghurt to sooth the burn, perhaps a beer or two later then i'll take a spin across town and go visit my folks bout 10'ish with a very nice 21yr old port wood Balvenie to bring in the new year for us all.

Not had the slightest cold/flu/sore throat/aches & pains etc for 4yrs+….Humph….i got them all at once for bloody xmas.

Staying in, haven't done anything on NYE for years. May have a bottle of wine with Mrs 10, if she feels like drinking. Rock and Roll.

I've never liked going out on NYE. Christmas is for socialising but NYE is more reflective for me and more backward looking. Me and the Ms live very chaotic lives and if we don't stop and consider the year thats just gone by then it just sort of vanishes.

So normally we're locked away together with some fizz and some thoughts but tonight we've both got poorly parents to care for and I think its the first NYE we've ever spent apart.

So while my mum snoozing under a duvet on the couch I'm still resolutely putting off my vat accounts which need to be submitted before the bells.

Don't do NYE, prefer to wake up NYD with a nice clear head, out for a ride first thing, then Bristol for the rugby in afternoon and finish the day at a friends house for some music and food.

Overrated IMO.

Pay to get in to ram packed pubs full of drunken people I don't know or care about?

Nah your ok! Got some nice food last night, cheese and biscuits and a couple of beers to chill out.

Never once had a good night out on NYE, but enjoy it every year these days with a couple of beers, crap TV, and that superior feeling to everyone else the next morning.

I imagine i'd feel more than ok with the cold & flu remedies i have available to me, however now that i'm past 40 the following day or two after such a blowout knackers me at the best of times so after my week long self-pitying snot & hacking cough fest i feel it's for the best to stay at home.

It's my birthday in late January anyway, there's 50 odd folk turning up for a 24hr rip-the-tits-off-it social gathering so i'm not really gonna miss out…….so i keep telling myself

Hogmanay has always been the event of the festive season for me, even when I've not gone out of my way to celebrate. Remember, Xmas wasn't even a holiday here until 1958 and when I was growing up it wasn't a big deal.

Never been a big fan on NYE. Back when I was younger it would involve copious amounts of booze and drugs. I would then wake up depressed and feel like shit for days afterwards.

Thankfully I don't do this anymore, as I no longer feel obligated to have fun because it is the end of the year.

Tonight I am going to a mates house to watch the hobbit and have a few whiskeys. I will then be getting up at a reasonable time and am going to swinley for my first MTB ride in over 6 months 😀

Went for a ride
Went for some beers
Made lamb curry for the family
Wrote this: http://pickled-hedgehog.com/?p=3281
Lego movie in the DVD
Another ride tomorrow

The days of fighting my way to a bar having paid £10 to get in are well behind me. No problem with those who enjoy it, but I've got everything I need here!

Nope, worked all over Christmas - and fugging glad I'm not at work tonight. Will be settling in with a book and a cup of tea. And the odd beer.

Best wishes to anybody heading in for their shift, especially NHS & emergency staff. Hope it's not too crazy.

Never been bothered by NYE. I'd sooner start the new year without a hangover and sleep deprivation. Not an old age thing, been like this since I left my teens behind. Last few years I've been tucked up in bed long before midnight.

This year we have been invited round to friends, which should be nice, but even with 10 kids haring around between us all I may struggle to stay awake till midnight.

Was good a few years back going to clubs but once you get older and looking at the ridiculous cost of it all for one night can't be bothered.

Will be up early to try and get a double parkrun in at 9am & 10am.

People have already started letting off fireworks round here - fantastic 🙄

i usually have a house full of mates getting mashed and dancing round the kitchen, but the idea of celebrating the year just gone seems abhorrent. looking back im surprised i didnt do myself in. glad to have made it tbh and looking forward to a long, lone ride in the morning. any suggestions for a cheerful film to compliment my whisky macs and sombre mood?

I've made crispy duck for the first time ever. House full of teenagers eyeing up the WKD and a few mates round later for Gangnam Style dance off on the WII. Then some mahoooosive fireworks.

Every NYE has been a disappointment for me since the millenium one (legendary party in my hometown 😆 ) so the last few years I have done what I'm doing tonight: good food, a film, maybe a bit of playing on the PS3 and watch the year end with Jools. Then to bed and a chilled day tomorrow doing nothing important.

I'm still resolutely putting off my vat accounts which need to be submitted before the bells.

You get a weeks grace to submit and pay online, I'll be doing mine in the next couple of days as usual.
Not going out as group of friends are still spread around the country and it was only when I saw the queues for booze in sainsburys did I realise it was the 31st, not bovvered as never been one for NYE anyway.

The Mrs is preggers and doesn't really like the whole elbowing your way to the bar for a drink, so a quiet night in watching a couple of movies, a few drinks (alcoholic ones for me mind 🙂 ) and we'll probably watch Jools later.

Hope everyone has a great night whatever they're doing and a brilliant 2015.

NYE used to be a 12 hour rave or some epic club sesh (bet that bowlers night will be ace). Now it's a case of being sat in having a few (well maybe more) beers with the Mrs. Got 2 snoring monkeys upstairs so my party days are over.

Been a long year 2014 for health, work and life in general, and so tonight we are having pizza, chocolate, some good tunes from the mu-so courtesy of Spotify and just chilling out, based on current energy levels I suspect I will be asleep come 23:59 but I am sure 2015 will be there when we wake up tomorrow, done enough NYE out and about to not need to make to big a deal of it.

Happy New Year All.

Just got to get the kids to bed now before I can polish off the prosecco and leftover pizza.
Working at 8am so can't stay up late anyway.

Last time I did the whole nightclub / bar thing on NYE was probably 10 years ago. I witnessed the millennium thing in Millennium Stadium and it was crap, 2001 on Bondi Beach and it was crap and the next couple in the local after paying to get into the same pub they're begging for customers for the other 364 nights of the year, crap - always massive anti-climax.

Still enjoy it though, tonight I've cooked a lovely meal for us (lamb cutlets with red wine and tarragon sauce food fans) I've had a rum, the kids are in bed and I'm watching TV with my beloved - I'll be asleep when the bongs go off and down Afan with my mates in the morning long before the revellers have sobered up.
