Very interesting cost comparison. I’d never buy new for the miles I now do (I’d struggle to justify spending £6k really – which is why I still drive a 12 year old car) but if you are in the market to spend £15k on a small car I guess it would be worth comparing.

The Maths are there on the used ones too at 3 years old so an easy comparison to make. I think from memory on the last thread it was closer to 7-8k for a used one - and the battery is going to be good as you are on the lease for that

The electric Kangoo is. I'd imagine there will be a passenger version soon enough when they realise they can capture the Berlingo crowd.

@ simon_g

That's an interesting cost breakdown/comparison but even at ~£14k new, although I noticed when I requested some offer details through carwow most of the savings come from a Renault finance deposit contribution and a government grant? the dealer themselves are maybe knocking £500-600 off and that's probably just offset against some commission for setting up the finance?

TBH I'd rather go for a used Zoe in the £6-8K range now as they've been out for a while and in an odd way the battery rental makes more sense as it's the prime concern for degradation/wear with age on a leccy car...

Yes, £3500 government grant, £1000 finance deposit contribution (take and cancel it if you like), rest is discount.

Agreed on battery rental. I was rather anti-rental but I've been running the numbers and for a new one it would take us nearly 8 years to make up the difference in cost for rented vs owned, and if we still have it at that point then there's some value in still having the battery under warranty.

Battery rental also includes breakdown cover, including being picked up on a flatbed if you ran out of charge.
