I took this while out running yesterday. I was going to put this in the 'Show me your ruins' thread, but it's not old enough.

Hint: it's not my kitchen.
Is it an Aldi?
Underground bunker, WW2 era?
A room? I think I'm going to need more pics or clues.
It's my en suite bathroom.

Kebab shop kitchen?
MrJMT has it. One of hundreds of nuclear bunkers designed to be manned by local volunteers to report on radiation levels in the event of a nuclear strike. This one is less than a mile from my parents house. Growing up I'd always assumed it was some kind of waterworks. It was only recently my dad mentioned what it really was. I ran past a few weeks back and the hatch was open, and I felt I owed it to the 10 year old me to have a peek, so went back with torch and phone.

It was ankle deep with some pretty foul water, so I was concentrating on not dropping my phone rather than taking masterful photos. Interesting to see the restored one up there, they must have been identikit builds.
I know. I know!
It's Theatre 4 at Tameside General.
is it a baby robin?
They were identikit, over a thousand built.
Cool! Be a nice thing to have personal access to, hidden away, useful for peace and quiet, getting away from the family, etc.
They do occasionally pop up for sale - around £5-10k I think.
Local one intrigued me for years, especially after I found out what it was, and now as to why its become so exposed.

Funny you should mention that, I knew what it was after chatting to someone about this house!
Is it that hotel in Blackpool that fines you if you leave a bad review on Tripadvisor?
They're opening quite a few of those bunkers to use as Ebola shelters.
You been chatting with the vile Hopkins BJ ?
Stay classy
Used to be a site and forum dedicated to observer core bunkers. Had location details of most sites in the country quite interesting and you will prob not be too far from one.

There's one listed as being just above the Gap in the Beacons, must go check it out next time I'm up there 🙂
Have a look at Subbrit a website deditated to sectreet underground stuff also has locations etc.
Lots of them still around
The Command centre for these (well, one of them at least) was in Fort Southwick just outside Portsmouth.
I worked there for a few years, was pretty cool seeing the big glass map of the UK with all the posts marked on, little room behind it where an adjutant would have been, marking on the map the signals received from the posts so that the blast zone could be mapped.
Unfortunately the owners of the fort have scant interest in its history over making money from the place and the map was 'accidentally' smashed during some renovation work of the building.
Found five now, all clearly visible on Google Earth. Although they all seem to have cows round them 😆
One is in a farmer's field and I'm pretty sure my dad knows the owner, might see if I can get a look in the new year.
