Hey!

My google foo is letting me down.

I've been doing my patio and i want to end the run by unending flags and using them as a retaining wall for a flower bed.

I want a tie bar that hooks round the flag and is driven into the ground to tether the flag to stop it falling forward.

I know i can dig the flags in deep but theres roots/rocks etc.

Can picture it.  If i cant find one I'll make some but o thought they existed

Fencing pins would be close; rebar tent pegs might be close but too short - I'm sure any local metalworkers could knock you up something appropriate for a few quid.

I-beam? Can't imagine it being the cheapest way. T-bar could be cheaper but reliant on the weight of the soil to hold it together.

Need to choose your material and preservation method, will rust eventually.

Sabrefix Roll Edge Restraint Strap Bend??

You can get a twisted variety that might anchor better that you'll need to bend: Sabrefix Roll Edge Restraint Strap Twist

J-hook ground stakes or something would probably work if you can get them long enough.

What size slabs are you using?

Why not just buy rebar, cut it to length and bend it. It'll cost you pennies.

Id rather have stainless so it doesn't drip rust down the flags.

I might just see how deep i can get them edged in

Rab Sherry ,the blacksmith at Carsluith , could probably make you something up that would be aesthetically pleasing.

If you slabs are 300 and you want 300 upstand...

You will need bigger slabs.

Or some other retention system with you slabs used as slip facing.
