Anyone know the nuances of Ford diesel engines?

My van has gone in for a planned cambelt change this morning. Now I was under the impression it has a wet belt engine but there was a mild panic by the garage owner when he realised that the fixed price job he quoted assumed a standard dry belt, he thinks it's the Ford/Peugeot HDi motor. Anyone actually know who is right? Details are.

2016 registration year. 1.5 litre Diesel. plastic cover over the head states Duratec.

No AdBlue, that started with a facelift 18 months later but it is Euro 6.

yes - essentially same engine, though I'm pretty sure peugeot/citroen called them 1.6, or had a slightly bigger displacement. I was under the impression its a dry belt set up.

Pretty sure the 1.5 Ford Connect I had as a work van had the wet belt. I think most Ford Diesels from about 2008 are wet belt.

🤣 2 responses with exactly the opposite options!

Thanks anyway gents. The garage hasn't rung me with any bad news, I hope they'd have worked out if they cocked up by now.

Just in case anyone cares, dry belt on this one. Job done without having to remove the engine! (Phew)

My mechanic has a Ford with the wet belt engine. He told me that Ford originally said 120,000 miles for a belt change then brought that down to 60,000. And that the wet belt cover gets bent removing it and costs another £270 on top of the job to replace it. Cost to me would be about a grand for the belt doing if I owned one.

I don't, I have a lovely (if slighlty rusty) old T4.

The Ford was on my list as a potential replacement.

Why would you be removing the engine to change a wet belt.....

Wet belts are no harder than a dry belt in many cases.....

Well I thought I'd read that as they didn't design it with replacement in mind, it was easier to just lift the engine out than fit in situ.

But my research on the subject was clearly poor so who knows. 🤷

recently had the wet belt changed on my custom, ford say 140k, mine was 83k and it turned out the old belt was perfect, no signs of delaminating and the pick up pipe was spotless. cost me about £360 in labour and the parts i supplied where £300 inculeding 10L of oil, all genuine apart from the cover. also included a new sump asthey often bend removing them.
also the custom didn't go to a wetbelt until about 2017

All I can add, is 'thank **** my 2 litre diesel has a dry belt'

(Though still wish it had a chain like on the previous Mk3 Mondeo).
