Liberty will be 8 on Xmas day and she has been asking for a fitbit. Some friends of hers have them and she wants one to. She only wants one to show her step count and exercise and she hasn't got a phone to connect to either. She does have an android tablet so not sure if it can do anything connected to that, but it only gets used at home.
It's not a bad idea for Phoenix for Xmas either, he has an android phone so it could connect to that. Assuming he would need an adult one where liberty would need a child one? Not sure if shelby would benefit from one being 5 but he'd definitely enjoy seeing how much he's walked etc.
So, fitbits or the like, any ideas?
Thanks
Couldn't imagine using my Fitbit without a phone personally.
Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is IMO the one to get: great price, great features. Fitbit is a bit overpriced. But either will sync fine with a tablet. FWIW one of my daughters has a Mi Band 4, and my wife has a Fitbit Alta HR.
Edit: you definitely need something to connect it to, either a tablet or a phone. It'd be pretty crap on its own.
You can check the app installs and runs on the tablet before you get the FitBit if you want, just to be sure. They use Bluetooth to sync.
That Xiaomi Mi looks a good deal (although might not pass the friends test!). The Ace 2 is the kids one FitBit do.
We have Samsung ones and it's fun having a family leader board but Samsung health won't install on something without a sim card so unless its sync'd with yours it'll be useless.
Honor Band 5. Pretty good and well priced. Has revealed a lot about how little quality sleep I get. Measures steps cycling and lots more.
The latest fitbits need android 8 and above to connect
My Wife has a relatively new Fitbit (perhaps 6 months old) and her phone is <1yr old. The connectivity between the 2 is very hit and miss from what she says.
She has moaned repeatedly about it failing to update, updating and then not connecting to her phone, failing to sync...it wasn't a cheap device, either.
There are a few people at work with Xiaomi Mi bands that rate them...especially for the price.
I have a small black Fitbit, used once, you can have it if you like. It’s in a box and like new. If you are interested message me with your details and I will post it to you.
Was just in Decathlon, they had a few things reduced by the counter, Fitbit Inspire / Alta, Xiaomi Mi Band 4 (£20),and some garmins, suunto etc
Good discounts.
I had a Mi Band 4, it fell off whilst I was riding. Was quite happy with it,though it wouldnt connect to Sleep App iirc (or was it Strava?) Sometimes these things just dont work
I wanted a Mi Band 5, thought I bought one (and a Band 4) off WISH dirt cheap, but they were copies, though Wish were very good and refunded me immediately. These are both up for grabs, (at your peril) untested. One has a red strap
I have a Fitbit now, quite happy with it, though it wont connect to Strava, only the latest ones do that
Had a Fitbit, seemed alright to begin with. Then the straps fell apart. And again. And again. The battery became useless in a year and the heart rate tracking was a bit generous. The app was intuitive though. Got a garmin forerunner 45 which seems to be good. Few complaints, other than when it runs out of juice and wipes itself (this is 99% my error).
