You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Last year I dusted off my old air rifle to do a bit of target shooting in the garden and ended up owning 3 air rifles! I want to sell one of them, can anyone recommend the best site to do so? I'm pretty sure if I take it to the local gun shop he'll pull my pants down. So would rather sell online. I've seen a few different sites but have no experience of them.
Cheers
You can advertise on Guntrader or Gunstar for a small fee,
Freeads also allow airgun sales.
The best UK site for info and sales is airgunbbs.com but you'll have to accumulate several posts before gaining access to the classifieds section.
What do you want to sell?
Thanks for the info. I have a Weihrauch HW77K .177. Its in absolutely mint condition so its way too nice for me and the kids to mess around with in the garden. I have an older version of the same thing that we use so its just sitting in a cupboard doing nothing.
The HW77K is a very popular rifle and will sell easily - at the right price of course!
The airgunbbs would be my first choice for moving it on at a good price.
Must....resist......🙂
Good job I'm skint.
One of the best.
Could be very interested
In classic stw tradition I would highly recommend HW77K as I have one. They are a popular gun and whilst grand for target shooting they also dispatch rats and hares with equal ease. Great rifle to own.
It begs the question, what are you keeping in favour of it?

It is generally considered that hare should not be shot with a sub-12ft/lb air rifle.

True enough, too late to edit, but not a gun for larger pest control.
Sorry to derail but how are Hares pests?
Sorry to derail but how are Hares pests?
Hares are not pests per se. They are not a vermin species.
However, in some situations, an increase in localised hare population can result in significant damage to arable crops. In such cases, they can be controlled by shooting.
This is not a common scenario.
Sorry to derail but how are Hares pests?
Sorry probably a poor choice of word, I've only shot them when they have been infected.
Oh sod it.
Interested also.
Send us some details if you decide to get rid. 🙂
Let's take a breath now boys.
Remember the OP asked for tips on selling an air rifle.
Let's not get into the rights and wrongs of shooting pests and game.
Let's not see the last post being a vegan recipe from Chris Packham.
Airgunbbs always was a good shout. I ought to get rid (nearly said shot) of mine, only see them when I get the Xmas decs out of the loft!
The airgun forum is also a good place to sell but insist on exclusivity for the duration of the ad. BBS was a rabid hell hole for quite a while but banning politics threads seems to have quietened it down significantly.
As said, either of those or free ads should see you right, I'd only really recommend a shop if you were exchanging unless you like near Blackpool in which case Blackpool Air Rifles offer fair prices for good guns IIRC.
77Ks are good guns, I have a Diana 430 which is broadly the same spec and its a lot easier to shoot than it's bigger brothers (52). Very much another n+1 pastime.
recently sold both of mine via Guntrader with the minimum of fuss. I insisted on local collection only + cash and all went smoothly. The cost of listing was minimal and I posted decent pics and priced at the average of the previously sold equivalents. I was very pleasantly surprised!
I'd recommend AirgunBBS or Guntrader too. No dealer can offer you anything like the same sort of money as a private sale. Even part-ex is scary.
On airgunbbs, the general rule is that a sale will realise 0.66 of the new price if in v. good condition.
Selling to a dealer will realise 0.4 tops.
I sold a 2002 Theoben Fenman over the weekend for £300.
And also bought a lovely BSA Scorpion Tactical (single shot) in mint condition.
Guntree?
