Had my car written-off by a fellow driver on Friday, and surprisingly monday morning there insurance company admitted liability!

So what was my car 'offically' worth? (or by glasses guide)

W (2000) reg 1.8 (petrol) Ford Focus Zetec Estate (125K aprox)

Obviously not worth a huge amount but I'm gutted as it was reliable, regularly serviced had all work required (clutch/cam & exhaust replaced) done and was only serviced last weekend...

So I just want to be armed with figure when they come and offer me £200, though I can see they are on autotrader for around £1000.
Can anyone help?

(ps I need another car asap!)

Just do a few screen grabs off Autotrader and finished ebay sales and hold your nerve with them

When we wrote our car off... dont ask. THey offered us half what we paid, refused it and said can't find anything local for that much money they upped their price. From what I understand its the lowest value they can give you which repesents what you can actually buy to replace it. Still a faf and annoying if you can't get exactly what you had. Good luck!

You need the 'what is actually available' data - so only get prices within reasonable distance to you, and be careful of autotrader because there are plenty of cheap cars that you could never buy...honeytraps.
Likely they called you quick because it was indensible and they dont want the hire car cost they avoid by offering you quick.
Also, esp. if they are low balling you, if its parked at your place, you might turn a profit by negotiating to keep it and ebay/sell for scrap. You'd be suprised what things are worth even busted. Check out ebay/local scrappies etc.

Cheers for the posts, looks like I'm going about it the right way.
Nah car had to be collected after the accident, so it's a 'yard' & my mechanic has said he doesn't do body work & I can't be arse to flog my old bike bits let alone car bits (also no storage facility)

Time for a new bike waggon.
