I want one of these in preparation for an upcoming trip to France.
Can't buy them without a French address, and presumably credit card - could anyone help me out?
Obviously happy to reimburse.
Quick bump. Ordered one off French ebay - but I'm not entirely convinced it's working.
Why d'you need that? Lots of other options surely?
Could do with having some sort of reasonable internet.
Can't seem to find a cost-effective way of roaming (Vodafone seems to be the best, but is expensive above 25MB/day).
How long are you going for?
Have you looked at those companies that sell you sims specially for travelling? Here's one
Not used them but I've had lots of advertising for such things. Maybe worth looking into?
My friend has a SFR 3g sim card. 9 euros and she thinks it lasts for 10 to 15 days.
She had to get it from their shop though.
Just a week - but I'd like something set up and ready to use before I get there.
There's a bunch of stuff I need to do while I'm there, but I'd like to have a bit of a holiday too, rather than running around mobile shops trying to get something that works.
Not in France but by the border and could (probably) walk into a shop and buy one if you're stuck
The link you posted is a sim ment for a prepaid phone not for an internet dongle. You can buy them in orange shops as well might need a local adress don't remember.
Well, I was working from information gleaned from here: http://prepaidwithdata.wikia.com/wiki/France#Orange
Which seems to think that the "Semaine Internet Max" option is fine for non-mobile internet devices.
That said, I can't find it mentioned on their website...
Can do. Drop me an e-mail and I will look into it later on tonight/ over the weekend.
How urgent is it?
The address will be just because you need to register the card at an address.....So hopefully won't need my credit card details...if they do I'm out I'm afraid.
If you walk into a shop you don't need a credit card just an address.
The credit card may just be for online purchase?
The credit card thing is just that it won't let you have a billing address that isn't in France when you're trying to buy it from their website.
That all said, I can't seem to find any reference to the Internet Max options on orange's website. Perhaps they've stopped it now.
Bah. Back to the drawing board.
Thanks for the offers, though! 🙂
